trip to the Jost for a day?

Post by sillymom »

I am new to the board and had a question about taking a trip to the Jost for a day ? My family (myself, hubby and 9yr old son) will be in St. Thomas Aug 1st thru 8th . I know we can take a private chartr over ,but most make other stops other than just to the Jost . I was wondering if we ferry over will we have time to see and do what we want to do? I know we want to go to Soggy dollar and Foxys. It looks like the ferry only run on the weekends over to the Jost ,but you can take the ferry any day to Tortola and then go to the jost .I just dont want to get over there and be rushed ,the whole idea of this vacation is to relax.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

If you catch the weekend ferry, you will have a good five hours on Jost. We never feel rushed, just not ready to leave. I've never looked into catching the ferry from Tortola.
Going "home" again October 26th!

I posted similar questions a week or so ago under a title (tell me about the ferry to Jost), you might search for that post.

Everyone said the ferry is a good way to see Jost and enjoy the beach and bars. I think we'll be taking it across on 8/5 from St. John so we might see you there! We'll be a group of six. Two couples and one teenager, one ten year old!

I think you'll have plenty of time on Jost if you take the ferry. Then again, plenty is relative as it's likely you won't want to leave. :)

Jost Ferry

I thought I would put my 2 cents in. we did Jost during the week 2 years ago. What an ordeal. we went from st John to St Thomas to Tortola to Jost there was a lay over in Tortola both ways. On the way back we cleared customs on St John but had to to go to St Thomas as you could not stay there because your return ticket indicated St Thomas. we only had a couple of hours on Jost we went to the soggy dollar but never made Foxys. This year we will be taken the ferry on Sunday Aug 8th and cutting out the Tortola leg and then we will have more time on the Island. Sounds like there may be enough people for a ring toss tourney at the Soggy Dollar.
