Trip Report 6-16 / 6-25 Part 3 w/ pics
We were to go sailing with Captain Clark on this day and were awake once again at the crack of dawn because we were so excited...We were to visit Sandy Spit and then on to White Bay after a quick stop in Tortola. We all met at the Dingy Dock at 9 am. There would to be us and 2 other cpls. We were soon our way out of Coral Bay, it was a beautiful morning. We sailed for abit looking at the Villas on the hills and at how pretty some of them were. We had looked at the few of the villas on this side of the island and one we were there almost wished we had taken one of them, but having never been there before and the fact we werent didnt think we were going to rent a car, we decided Cruz Bay might be best..but next time we will be checking out some of those Villas a little more closely. I really did like that side of the island.
After a bit we made it into Tortola , we all loaded into the Dingy and went ashore, A few of us went shopping for a bit and the guys had a drink at one of the bars. We werent there too awfully long and Capt Clark came back with all the paperwork in order and we were off the Sandy Spit. Capt Clark made his famous Turkey Sandwiches for us while a cpl of the guys sailed the boat while we were on the way.
We soon could see Sandy Spit, it was so pretty. As soon as we got there we were all off snorkeling around it and finally on to the island itself. The Coral was gorgeous and there were lots of different fish. We sure were wishing we had the underwater digital about this time. We did have the disposable ones and I will post the pics hopefully sometime this week. We saw a Nurse Shark, Barracuda and a net that someone had put up.. so many of the fish were tangled and dying, everyone pitched in and and freed as many fish as we could. I took pics I will post them also. Capt Clark was there with us with the Dingy in tow and it made a much better snorkel after a bit we swam around into the deeper water where Capt Clark said the Tarpon would be..and sure enough they were there... they were HUGE...but fun to watch..I love to snorkel but would have never gone into this deep of water had Capt Clark not had the dingy for us. It made me alot more comfortable. We all snorkeled for a long time then back into the dingy and back to the boat. It was a wonderful Snorkel. I know we both enjoyed it as Im sure the others did also.
We were on our way in just a bit to White Bay and the Soggy Dollar bar. It was a peaceful little beach with just the bar and gift shop there...although we did keep our dollars dry by taking the dingy ashore instead of swimming.
We stayed for a bit took a few pics (which I have hopefully posted by now) soon it was time to head back to Coral Bay. The evening sail was gorgeous and the air felt so good I could have taken a nap...but instead we opted for another pain killer LOL After all we had never had one before that day ..and the next morning not sure we wanted another...lol We arrived back at Coral Bay after dark and a few went for a bite to eat.. We decided we would head on back to Cruz bay and get an early start in the AM.
We went down on Thursday morning to meet Captain Clark and get checked back into Customs, its great that he can do that, it made for a longer sail instead of having to get back in as early as some of the others do. It was painless and quick and we decided we would go to Chilly Billy's for breakfast. We had passed by a cpl days earlier and they were closed, We were reading the menu and one of the waitress's came out and apologized for being closed and gave us a bottle of water. So we decided to go back and pay her a visit. The food was great I had eggs and homefries Hubby had a waffle..it really was good food and I would love to have gone back...but once again..we didnt make it..next time perhaps.
After Breakfast we walked back to Suttons to get our car and stopped by the vendors just across from Cruz Bay and checked out all the things they have. I love looking at all the local crafts when on vacation. We went back to the Villa and decided wed just "lime out" at the Villa til Dinner time and visit the pool. And we did... up til about 2:15 pm at which time we decided wed make the ferry in time to get to Havensight to get the digital camera we had wished so bad the day before we had..So with a quick get ready and a stop by Cruz Bay Photo to make sure he didnt have one in stock yet, we were off to the ferry and on our way. I called the camera shop to make sure they would be there this time. we were in Red Hook in just a few. To my surprise the first cabbie I see as we get off the ferry is the one that had over charged us 2 days prior. I went up to him told him he had over charged us and I wanted our money back. He apologized and said he thought we were paying for everyone that was in the cab with us and told me he had been looking for us. Im not sure I believe this we were left on foot and the other people were only going a half block away. But we got our 30.00 back ,he refunded our money and we got the Camera we came after 2 days before. We got back and immediately headed to Trunk to snorkel and try it out..It was late in the day and we did get a few good shots. We stopped at the Beach Bar and grabbed a bite to eat on our way back home..I have to say I love the Camera its small and Im sure we will use it again even here at home with the kids in the pool and even on shorter trips. I feel like it was worth every penny..So Once again it had been 2 great days that we will never forget... Soon we were off to bed and ready for the next day......More to come..

Thanks for a great report.
Isn't cpt Clark just the best boat captain? We did a say sail with him in April, and it was a prefect day. We also had 2 other very nice forum couples with us. Cpt Clark was so nice and laidback. I loved that he followed us with the dinghy when we snorkeled, so that we could go further out then I would have else. He kept track on all of us. And his turkey sandwiches was really tasty. I can understand that you had a great time with him.
