Trip Report 6-16th / 6-25th Day 1 and 2

Post by JJShaw »

We arrived Sat the 16th on time and with all our luggage. We were very excited to be there. We took a taxi to Red Hook had time for a quick smoothie then on to the ferry. The ferry left a little late but no big deal. We were met at the dock by Marilyn from Cimmaron, very nice lady and she escorted us to Suttons where our Vitara was waiting. No problems with them at all...they were very helpful we were somewhat nervous after reading some of the posts on the forums about them. but all went well there and I would rent from them again.
We were off once again to Villa Carib Sea at Mahogany Tree. we were a little disappointed in the villa when we got there and it seemed to get worse as the evening went on.( I am writing a report and will post it asap) We unpacked and went into town to get some dinner before shopping for food. We ate at SoGo's located near Suttons Car Rental. The burger was great and the lady that waited on us was very freindly..we wanted to get back there before we left but didnt make it..We did our shopping at Star Fish and headed back to the Villa. We wanted to get things ready to head out early in the AM as it was a day to explore the island for us. We had only been to St John once before as one of those darn cruisers LOL So we wanted to see what we had been missing. We designated Sunday as explore the island day. We had planned on going down to the pool for an evening dip. Problem was there were no lights for us to be able to see to get there ( the pool sits below the property )...so needless to say..we didnt get to swim..there was no cooler for us to pack up and take with us on our " exploring day ". A nice cool shower would have felt good. but the water pressure was crap and we barely got a trickle of water.. so we did the best we could and headed to bed soon after.
Day 2 Sunday 17th
We took Centerline Road stopped at the cute little gift shop near the mtn and took a few pics. We went on to East End as far as we could then turned around went to Salt Pond and on to Drunk Bay and of course made one of the little people and left him on the beach. We stopped by Ship Wreck landing and had lunch there.. the Food was good but once again we didnt make it back there either, We came back to Cruz Bay Via North Shore road. Stopped and took a few pics of the beaches there came in made it to the pool before dark and checked out the honesty bar there..honestly it must be a joke..there was nothing there to drink unless you want pool chemicals...we passed on that offer.. We grilled Steaks at the Villa and went to the Beach Bar and stopped by a few of the shops..headed back to the Villa and soon to bed. I had called Cimmaron earlier in the day by bed time they had not returned my call. Im glad there wasnt an emergency.
Look for more as I will continue to make more posts about our 9 days there

We will be posting pics and will add the link as soon as they are online.

I'm looking forward to hearing more. I'm sorry that the villa was a dissapointment. I also hope Cimmarron came through for you. They were our mgmt company and on Sunday they didn't get our one issue addressed, but they had someone out first thing Monday morning!

Thanks for the report!
Marilyn was our Villa Rep. too. She was very nice. We never had to call them after that first day though.
Keep the reports coming and I hope it gets better. I am sure it will... :)
