St John Humpday Pic

Ever notice how these guys just show up from nowhere when you eat under the trees on the beach. They must have great eyesight I'd throw a piece of chip no bigger than a 1/4 inch in the leaf debris and they would go right to it and pick it out in a second. My wife always gets pi$$ed at me cause they get so close, they definitely aren't shy.

 We watched a kid just buy his hamburger at the stand at trunk, after a long 15 minute line, he walked off with his little sister holding out the hamburger in front of him like he was balancing it. A gull came down and snatched the meat from between the buns and was gone in under 1 second (no joke, it was fast!). The kid had a look of shock like he just got kicked in the face. Even though I felt kind of bad for the kid, it was funny to see, especially since there were signs all over the place that warned everyone to watch out for birds stealing food.

Oh no! It's the Bird of Doom! I hate those pearly eyed thrashers. They are just too darned loud and they start at around 3 AM! This year they had nests built on the eaves outside of both bedrooms at Cinnamon Tarn, grr. We pack earplugs just because of those darned birds. :x :x
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

The worst thing with these guys, is when they find you relaxing on the beach under a tree, and come and sit above you and then sh-t on you. Happend more than one time on our last visit (on Honeymoon beach).

Otherwise I generally like birds.

Maggy, you make me laugh! The same thing happened to me at Trunk Bay. Nasty little critters!

Yea my wife always says she's going to laugh her a$$ off when I get $hit on. Now if she's the one to get $hit on I better just call it a day go get a bottle of Cruzan and sleep on the beach for the night.

LOL! That reminds me of Disney World's Magic Kingdom. If you even blink, those birds will have your dog or burger before you can even say "what the..."

Yes, California Girl - they were really nasty.

This actually happend only when we enjoyed our lunch sallad. I guess they wanted to taste, but after sh...ing on us, the odds for that didn't improve  They didn't get anything when behaving like that.

Fortunately we only had a few meters to the beautiful warm water to wash it off.

I don't don't what those birds are called, but I call them "Catbirds"...there was a favorite of mine who used to come to Beach Villa and watch me take a shower!!! He was there every day and I called him "my little friend". My husband would hear him and say, " your little friend is waiting for you". when we came back the next year, I swear the same one was there! ( Of course they all look the same and sound the same).

I totally agree - it's a really nice photo. And I actually think their singing is very nice.

At home we always feed our small birds, and I enjoy very much looking at them. So does my cats
