Villas with best views
Absolutely love those North Shore Views
Island Sun--Next door to Cinnamon Tarn on the opposite side from Le Chateau
Cinnamon Tarn--our favorite for 2
Anole--- from the front deck just outside the living room
Hawksnest-- almost spiritual at dusk- but the house is HOT HOT HOT except in the winter
Vistaero-- Upper Rendevous. The Cabana at the pool deck feels like you are suspended 1000 ft in the air.

Liamsaunt (and any others) -
I see that Cinnamon Tarn does not have A/C - is it really not needed? The place looks great, and I am looking for late Oct (3rd StJ trip this year!!!)
Thx
Mike

La Chateau has the best view of any villa we've ever stayed, but the house itself was not our favorite, so Cinnamon Tarn may be the next one on our list. Liamsaunt, you've about sold me on that one, in spite of the drive. We generally like to be closer to town when traveling with kids. But if we get the chance for a romantic getaway, it looks perfect.
What did you dislike about Le Chateau? John has said that he wants to stay there. Personally, I think he is just enamored of the big King Kong poster.cypressgirl wrote:La Chateau has the best view of any villa we've ever stayed, but the house itself was not our favorite, so Cinnamon Tarn may be the next one on our list. Cinnamon Tarn is such a great villa, I really think it is worth the drive. I have to do a review for the review section.
Yehguafam, we did not feel that AC was needed at Cinnamon Tarn. It is a lot cooler up on the top of the ridge than most other places on the island. Plus, there are lots of ceiling fans, and all of the windows are louvered with screens, so you can keep the house open at night while you are sleeping without compromising your security.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

It's not that we disliked it. We just like a newer, more up to date decor. We were also there when it was especially hot and there was no ac and the bedroom seemed warm at night. No breeze, but I'm sure that is not the norm. We loved the hot tub. Perfect for evening star gazing, but the pool was not our favorite. We were there like 12 years ago, so my memory has faded, but it seems the pool was not very clean, cold, and out in the lawn, not on the deck like most villas. We never used it. I think it was quite shady and I remember leaves everywhere. It may be totally different now.
This villa itself has a very old world European feel to it. I think it even has a firplace. We would never use a firplace on STJ. But it is charming and might be just what you are looking for. Since it was so long ago, I would assume it has undergone some updating.
I do remember lots of lime trees along the road going up to it. We make fresh limeaide and used them in our cocktails. Yummy.
I wish I could remember more. If you have a specific question it might jog my memory.

Liamsaunt.......I checked the web site and it does now have a heated pool and the furnishings look much nicer. I think you would really enjoy it.
When we were there it kind of reminded me of a scary old castle. I did not see any photos of the kitchen, so I would inquire about the updates on it, esp. since you love to cook.

Villa View
Seastone! Fabulous! Villa sits at the edge of a cliff in Maria Bluff!
We loved Le Chateau but usually need more than 1 bedroom. Le Chateau's other bedroom is sort of in a dark, downstairs space. Wouldn't want to use it, really.
We are renting Cinnamon Stones, also in Catherineberg, for January. So far, weI've loved the North Shore view best---though all of STJ has great views, of course.

We stayed at Le Chateau last year and are staying there again this year. We loved all of the dark wood, West Indies style furniture, and verandas. The pool was not that great but who cares with a view like that! We went in May and the breezes were so cool that I slept in long sleeve t-shirts. It has definitely been updated sometime in the past few years. We lived on the deck off of the main level. The Tommy Bahama furniture was so comfy. We liked the "older" style of the home. It was charming!
Spellbound
In Susannaberg.
Not only great views from STT (and even Vieques) to JVD, but also overland down to STX.
But what was best was to see the Southern Cross in the summer night.
I don't know if you can post pics here; otherwise, I would.
