Internet access
Internet access
Ok- I tried to search the forun for this info. because I remember reading a post about this. Couldn't find it ...Where is there internet access on STJ? Seems that I recall Connections in Cruz Bay and Coral Bay( an internet cafe I guess), free acess at the Donkey Diner?, Pastory Gardens( where is that), and any others? Thanks as always. I have convinced them to leave the cell behind, but my other half insists on the laptop. ugh
Hi:
Connections (like an internet cafe w/ no cafe) has internet access with computers, printers, faxes, etc. There is one located in Coral Bay at Skinny Legs and one in Cruz Bay between Woody's and the Ferry Dock. Donkey Diner has free internet and that is in Coral Bay, across the street from Skinny's and up a bit. Pastory Gardens also offers free internet and that is located on Centerline Road. You can also access the internet from anywhere in Warfside but you have to pay. I actually took my laptop to the Beach Bar and at least enjoyed some Island time while checking my mail.
I would however recommend that you keep the laptops on the "down-low", if you know what I mean. My hubby ended up getting very nervous about it when this fellow starting checking out my stuff and then seemed to hang around the corner watching us for a while. My hubby actually took my bag back to the villa and then came back cuz he just didn't want to take a chance. I even had my stuff in a regular old backpack just like everyone else carries so it wouldn't be obvious. From what I've read, laptops are a hot item right now.
Hope all this info helps!

Not sure if they still have it but Deli Grotto in Mongoose had internet terminals (I draw the line at bringing my laptop - I am a bit of a workaholic and though it seems I am on this forum all the time, I also check my email for work at 9:40 at night).
If I remember correctly it was $2/15 minutes and the connection was good and quick.

I know that it is so uncool to have to bring a laptop to STJ, but for reasons I have explained too many times already, I had to this last trip...and will have to on our upcoming trip in August.
To add to the suggestions provided by others, I know that there is an internet cafe with wireless on the second floor of the marketplace...above Starfish. I also know that they will rent equipment to you by the week to connect your villa to the net (if you are staying in a villa.) If you PM me, I can give you the contact information.
Again, if you are staying in a villa, the other option is to contact your agency and see if they can get a connection installed for you. Island Getaways did this for us and I was, and am, very grateful for their help.

Wisconsin, smell the dairy air
Depending on where you are staying there might be access. Some of the villas have wireless. Gallows has it, and there are computers set up with free internet for guests at Caneel. There is also access at the Tap Room, and I believe I saw a sign at high tide seafood that they were a hot spot. If you do bring a laptop keep it in the safe when you are not using it.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
When we were there in April there was a computer business on the 2nd floor of the Lumbaryard that told us that they were going to RENT wireless internet cards. That would be a really great and easy fix. Pop'um in the laptop and you have connection every where. He said he would start with then next 2 months. I figure that means 4-5 months
