Hey Rob -

We're waiting for the kid's passports to arrive. We don't NEED them, but we paid for them for this trip and would sure like them in time. We leave on Saturday.

One son shows up on the tracking screen, the other is lost and we applied for both in early March. After numerous calls and waiting over 5 minutes just to learn that I can't speak to anyone each time. I think I am done calling! It is very irritating.

I bet they'll show up next week while we're on St. John.....

I feel your pain. I think I mentioned this before, but Bill's got lost in the mail the first time around (he applied in January) and it cost us another $200 to have a new one expedited. Mine and DJ's arrived safely but it took 3 months.

Yep, I'm hearing these stories all over the place. I'm going to submit all of our passports for renewal after the March 2008 trip. I'm hoping that we'll get them back before October 2008. I could wait until after October 2008, but we'll need them again in January/February 2009.

Thanks robncindi! Good to know it will get here, eventually. We applied for 4 (2 new, 2 renewals) in March and we're not in the system yet. I think I made a mistake in not listing a travel date. So we're probably on the bottom of the heap. (Not going to STJ until Dec., but something could come up in between, e.g. for work, and it would stink to miss it!)

A coworker applied in Early march and is leavig for Italy in 2 weeks. This was a last minute trip and when they had applied they put a November date for travel.
She has been calling at all sorts of crazy hours. She got up at 6am EST and started calling. At 6:05 she got actually got a recording saying please hold, all the others said that they could not take her call. 15 minutes later she got someone on the phone. She explained the last minute trip and the woman pulled it up on the screen, printed it out and faxed it to the Embassy area. She will have her passports on Tuesday and a tracking # will be e-mailed to her on Monday.
The woman told her that they are between 5 and 6 months behind and that if she had not gotten through they would not have received them until August.
