Boat with captain - BVIs - who is good?

Post by PA Girl »

Our travel group is getting together in three weeks to bo preliminary trip planning. I want to give the group a few options to consider - homework so to speak.

We know we definately want to do a power boat trip to the BVIs. We did a sail in 2004, which was fun but we want to see more.

The will be 6 adults.

I like the price of Stormy Petrel/New Horizon's type of trip and with 6 adults, we will sort of make up a large part of a group trip. We are all social so being with strangers is no big deal but there are elements about the group trips that we are not thrilled about.

Who has chartered a boat with a captain for the day?

What company did you use and were you happy with them?

We would want a knowledge captain who will give us input on good spots to visit.

A snorkelling stop would be good but not the focus of the trip as three of the six are not water people.

Lunch at one of the little islands (Cooper, Peter, etc.) is definately something we want to do and we would like to revisit White Bay.

Who has done this? Please tell me what you liked or didn't like.

PA Girl, We went out on VIBE with Capt. Jordan last year. I'm leaning toward Flyaway Charters for this next trip. Nice boat on both but 6 person limit. I've also really heard wonderful things about Born to Rhumb and Capt. Kevin. I think his boat will hold 12. I'd really like to go out with him but with only 4 (unless we could do trip sharing), it's a little more spendy. They will all go wherever you want. Set your own fabulous itinerary!

I have been out twice with Captain Kevin on Born to Rhumb and cannot recommend him highly enough!! You will have a fantastic day and he will tailor the day to do whatever you want. I definitely recommend stopping at Sandy Spit - just my favorite place on earth!

PA girl,
We chartered a boat and captain through Flyaway Charters and loved them. The boats are very nice and their captains are great! I highly recommend them!
chrisn,
You will be very happy if you decide to use them!
