Beach Bar featured in Caribbean Travel & Life July issue

Post by Tina »

So I was looking at my pile of work on my desk tonight (working the midnight oil yet again :x ) and decided to flip through the July issue of Caribbean Travel & Life for a few minutes.

CHECK IT OUT! :D Page 40 has a shot of the Beach Bar in full swing with a jam-packed crowd. How I wish I was sitting there now with a lime & coconut. They provided their recipe for their painkiller. It was a good write-up. Too cool!

Tina - I saw that!!! I was so excited...they had to mention tuna down and make my mouth water....even more!

Plus there was a few pages about Cane Garden Bay in Tortola - we stayed in a villa above Cane Garden last year for a week before staying in St. John for another week....oh, if only we could go back in time. I'd schedule another trip right now but hubby and I are trying to move to Florida...its going to have to wait - Soon Come!

That is really cool. I emailed my sister in GA the menu for the beach bar yesterday. She replied that she will have the rib eye sandwich and 2 painkillers. The next day she will have the fish sandwich and 2 more painkillers. Soon see her and the beach bar!

Beach Bar vs. Woodys

Post by snorkelqueen »

On all our trips to SJ we have choosen to "hang" at Wooodys after long hard days on the beach or snorkeling. It seems that members of this forum favor the Beach Bar and we were wondering why. We've never really been to Beach Bar (though of course we knew it was there) We are always looking for places to mellow out in the afternoon or evening - drink, eat, people watch, hear some good local music.....so I'd like some comments on the two. I will certainly go out today and look for the magazine picture and receipe. Four weeks and one day we're there YEA!!! Love all the input, love finding people that who share my passion for SJ

I like woody's if I can get one of the outside tables but don't like to be shut in when I'm on STJ the beach bar has a roof but the sides are all open and the water is lapping up on the beach just makes it more peaseful to me

We opt for the Beach Bar over Woody's for one, simple reason...why stand in the street when you could be on the beach?!

RIGHT ON! Beach view vs. Subway shop seems like a no brainer now that I think about it....and inside at Woodys is a bit overwhelming in terms of noise....

I just love the mere fact that you can get yourself a drink, listen to some music and stick your toes in the water and watch an awesome sunset...can't get any better than that! Ahhhhh

I'm with Pete on this one. It's just too crowded at Woody's and the middle of the street's not my favorite place to drink. There's lots of space at the BB and you can move to the beach if that suits you. Seems like different local crowd trying to get those cheap happy hour drinks at Woody's.

Speaking from all my experience, you know, I'd say don't compare the two. Try 'em both on different evenings and see what you prefer.

On the original note of the thread, though, I'd say it's always cool to see a place you like and that you've been featured in a travel magazine. Pretty fun!

I LOVE the Beach Bar, I think the food is great.
My husband and I got married on St John. We returned for our one year anniversary.
Where did we have our anniversary dinner? The Beach Bar
