do you know of any (decent) Park, Sleep, Fly hotels where you can park and feel fairly safe about it?

Don't know of any "park, sleep, fly" hotels around PHL (could never find any hotels around the airport that offered this), but I would recommend Central Airpark or Ampco Express parking lots - we've parked at both off airport lots and both seem to have good security and are a short shuttle bus ride to the airport. I think they both have websites. Ampco has indoor and outdoor parking and offers a AAA discount. Central Airpark is all outdoor, but is cheaper. You can then take the shuttle to the airport and stay at the Marriott, which is right at Terminals B/C at the airport - very convenient.

Hope this helps!!

We always stay at the four points sheraton, or sheraton suites. They have park & fly deals, or if you can get a better deal, parking is around $5 per day in addition to the room rate(which is cheaper on weekends). Parking areas for both hotels are well-lit and safe. We've never had a problem and we've stayed there plenty of times. In fact, upon returning from our March trip late in the evening(to a car that was plowed in with snow and solid ice), they actually had a guy in a security van patrolling. He loaned us his metal shovel to dig out. Otherwise, we would have NEVER been able to leave. I was quite impressed that they actually thought of this...especially after a pretty bad travel day.

The rooms are your average hotel-standard, and their free shuttle is pretty reliable, too.

I second sunlover and The Four Points by Sheration. We always stay there when flying out of Philly. Free parking, clean rooms and 24 shuttle. Can't beat it.

I did, Tom. Thanks. But I wasn't thrilled with the selection. The area around PHL airport can be sketchy so I was hoping someone who had done this before could recommend something.
I think I'm going to go w. the option of parking the car and shuttling to the Marriott connected to the airport. Hadn't thought of that before!

We stayed at the Embassey Suites in Feb. It is very close to the terminal, less than a half mile.

Pros:

Shuttle runs every half hour, 24 hours a day.
Surprisingly good freebie happy hour
Decent size suites
Coffee, juices, muffins, etc. available when we left at 5 am

Cons:
The hotel is in need of a refurb. The rooms were a little beat (we had two in similar condition) Not dirty, peeling wallpaper, tired soft coverings, worn carpet.
No off-site dining options within a 15 minute drive (on-site restaurant was good)

We had two rooms for our party but only one car. the "park n fly" rate was $40 or so more for 8 nights of parking but you don't need a parking pass or even need to id your car in anyway

It was an ok hotel but not nearly as nice as the Marriott. I would stay there again because the size of the rooms and the common areas were great. We made full use of the free happy hour while our son watched the ducks swimming in the fountain.

I can't remember what we paid - $145 with all taxes maybe for the park n fly rate and $109 for the other room

I haven't found many great options around Philly. I am interested in hearing from others.

PA Girl, I have a resv. at Embassy Suites that I will likely cancel. Thanks for the feedback on the hotel. Right now the rate I have booked there is $249 with tax. Seemed high to me and I think I can find a better option.

Yikes - that rate does sound way too high. I did book it directly off of the Embassy website.

It certainly wasn't a terrible hotel but I was surprised at the condition of the rooms. I have stayed at at least 5 Embassy Suites over the past 5 years and the airport was definately not on the same level in terms of room quality.

I will say the staff was good. We had a number of questions that were handled quickly. Also, there was a staff member circulating at 5am, telling guests about the availability for to-go breakfasts.

At the rate we paid, it was a fine choice. At $249, I would have probably checked out on arrival and tried to find a different hotel.

We stayed at the Marriot with a group of 6 (three rooms) and our infant son in 2006. That hotel knocked our socks off when it came to customer service - I really was quite impressed.
