Aerosol Cans in Checked Bags?

Post by IA Joe »

I should know this, but can you put aerosol cans of insect repellent in checked bags? I was packing just now, and I don't have any off lotion, but I have two cans of off spray. Can I put them in my checked bag?

I just read the TSA guidelines...you can carry on up to 3 oz of aerosol. It does not say you cannot check the rest. I have always packed and checked my aerosol hair sprays and sunscreens and I have been out of the country with them...so I think you are fine!

As a true bug magnet, I always bring aerosol cans of OFF in my luggage - regular size - with no problems.

I packed 3 large cans of "off" in our luggage and didn't have a problem.

Regular sized aerosols can go in checked bags. 3oz can go in carry-on. We're doing carry-on only and are taking the towlette packets.
Maybe we'll see ya'there!
