We didn't eat at Vie's but took a picture anyway. Now in going through all our pictures I find this one. What the heck IS this hanging over the table anyway?
Now that the idea has been planted as to what it is, I can see the bird at the top. Otherwise it almost looks like a cow head bones. Looks like someone got a little "crafty" with a coconut.
It's a hummingbird feeder. It was carved out of a coconut. They added some horns? to look like a mask? There is something there that resembles a hummingbird in flight. Some of the guys around make these carvings to sell. Have not seen anyone selling them in years.
We sat at that very table in February and I must report that the "jumbie feeder" is a favorite dining spot for the bananaquits. Several were there enjoying their sugar du jour while we were enjoying Miss Vie's Garlic Chicken. ....mia
