Bug Spray
My fiancee and I are arriving on the 12th and are to be married on Hawksnest on the 15th. We have rented Arc Du Soleil and are very excited about this elopement. I was just wondering what is the best bug spray for the noseeums as we will be in the pool after dark I am sure. We are glad to be forum members and can't wait to post a trip report and post pictures of the most beautiful island we have ever been on.
Re: Bug Spray
Another product with catnip essential oil as a primary ingredient is this:

Carefully made by one of our forum members... and I have used it here in Florida and on St John with good results! My cat and I like the scent!!!
Edited: While I was writing this post the previous post with a link to a a bug spray with catnip, that was here disappeared... thus the "another".

Re: Bug Spray
The link that I posted turned out to be "Not currently available" when I placed the order, so I deleted it, but the catnip theme seems to be quite real, as per this link: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 075659.htm
I ended up ordering some catnip oil here: http://www.anandaapothecary.com/aromath ... atnip.html
and will try making a spray myself. Online recipes call for only 1-3% catnip oil, along with geranium oil, glycerin, and rubbing alcohol or witch hazel.
I hadn't realized that a forum member sells it premade.

Re: Bug Spray
There is a natural product made on St. Thomas and sold on island called West Indies Itch Relief and they also make Insect Repellant. The itch relief is AMAZING!!! Best $7 we ever spent!!!! It's in a little pump bottle and we found it everywhere on island. I haven't tried the repellant yet, but according to reports, mosquitoes are bad right now, so I bet I will be purchasing it when we arrive tomorrow!!!!

Bought this stuff online six months before went to the Virgin Islands (with hindsight now somewhat ironic as it's produced there!
) to use in Florida as we were in dire need of it here at home; excellent relief from the no see ums here and the mozzies there. http://thesolidbarcompany.com/collections/bug-bars (big uptick)
