Island hideaways rentals

Has anyone booked thru island hideaways? I saw their website online when searching for a villa.

Do most people book directly with owners thru vrbo?

I would not rent through Island Hideaways as they are not local to STJ. I would stay away from any company who doesn't have a business presence on the island. A dead giveaway to a company not being local is when they have rental listings for a bunch of islands.

It used to be that if you inquired about a villa through VRBO, you'd get a response directly from an owner, but it isn't necessarily that way anymore. Sometimes you hear from the owner, but often times these days you hear from a property manager/rental company. It varies.
