Lorijo: Ouch! It's one thing to check and find a villa unavailable, but to see it open, make the decision, and then have someone snatch it from under you at the last minute is brutal. FWIW, the folks who have stayed at Plumeria are pretty passionate about it, and a number of them, having been invited next door to check out Coconuts, decide that they prefer Plumeria instead.

They are very similar villas, built at the same time by the same builder, and with a nearly identical floor plan. The distinctions are these:
  • The porch, gazebo, and lower deck at Coconuts are a bit larger
  • The main kitchen at Coconuts is a freestanding building; at Plumeria it has been connected to the great room.
  • The billiard porch/outdoor kitchen at Coconuts is great for cooking, eating, and playing pool or table tennis, but is not a place to lounge comfortably.
  • The porch at Plumeria is all about extremely comfortable furnishings; think lounging, reading, and napping with an awesome view and sunsets.
Our consolations, and do give Plumeria a closer look.

PS: Did we speak? Unless we had another guest well along in the reservation process (which we would disclose), we would honor your precedence. Our VRBO page does allow prospective guests to "Book it now", without our intervention, but we usually exchange messages through VRBO, issue a quote, etc. before a booking occurs. I'm also not sure what form it was that you would have sent in; do you mean booking via VRBO? We don't have a form to fill out. Thanks.

[Edit] Lorijo: Got your PM; all clear now; thanks. For the record, from when we purchased Coconuts in 2010, until the beginning of this year, Caribbean Villas managed our villa. When we bought Plumeria in 2013, we decided to try winging it on our own, via VRBO and local networks that we have developed. That worked out so well that we quickly added Coconuts on VRBO, while maintaining CV as managers. We must be better at marketing or something (perhaps their 5% service charge plays a role), but in the fall of 2014, we had accounted for sixteen of the last twenty bookings. At year's end, after we sent them a spate of additional direct bookings, they said that it was no longer worth it for them to manage the villa, so we now manage both villas directly by ourselves. CV can still send us bookings as a marketing referral, but at a lower commission, and we manage the greetings and all villa services. You have a choice, but next time, you could just reach out to us directly, either via VRBO, or a PM on VIOL.

All the best,

Kevin
