All of St. John just lost power

Post by Coconuts »

According to a scrolling feed on the WAPA web site, "STT: 2/14/15 - Electrical service has been interrupted to feeders 6A, 7A, 8A, 9D and Ridgeroad which lost service around 3:40 pm on Saturday when Unit # 25 went offline. Crews are working diligently to restore service as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience".

That's a lot of feeders to go down. Despite the 3:40 PM time mentioned on the WAPA site, power to St. John just went down about half an hour ago. We have been in communication with both of our guests, and hope that service can be restored soon.

Edit, 8:15 PM EST: Power restored; that was faster than I expected. Guests responded gracefully, and the water pumps didn't even need priming. With a departure in the morning, power being back on will be appreciated.

All the best,

Kevin

About two hours w/o power-not bad for the islands. WAPA is really much more reliable than in the day-power might be off for days.
Of course WAPA did loss power last year for the Super Bowl!
It was interesting to see the houses with generators or a solar powered light.
