Tree House - Mamey Peak
Getting ready to chose the villa for our summer trip. Thinking of mixing it up this time and not staying on the sunrise side. The summer trip is with my boys, and they are not early risers, so the beauty of the sunrise is lost on them. They are pulling for Tree House on Mamey Peak - http://www.vrbo.com/155320
I like the proximity to Maho, and seems like it's very centrally located to both sides of the island.
Looks interesting - anyone know anything about it? I'm also wondering, with a north view, will I get any sort of sunrise/sunset effect there?

travel buddy and i stayed next door at viewtiful july 2013. loved the location for views over coral bay and to east and ease of dropping down into coral bay and the north shore beaches on east end such as maho, francis and waterlemon. don't recall north view being sunset though did have some good color. maho under 5 minutes. road to is very rough but short, there's cluster of 2 villas and managers home so feels like neighborhood. we toured treetop, very unusal floor plan, lot of steps, rustic and fairly basic like our lake cabin and thousands of mt cabins around north ga. no ac though we didn't need next door at vful. i rate as clean and a good value for a family and the marys who run private homes are easy to deal with. i rented from them on 4 different occasions though that was our ownly stay on mamey peak.

We stayed in Tree House our first trip to STJ back in the 80s. I agree with Papabou's comments. Nice views, good breezes and a pretty good location. Not fancy but still a good value. The Private Homes folks are delightful to deal with.

Unfortunately, the online calendar had not been updated and we found out today that the property is not available for our August trip - so the villa search is back on. Makes me sad, I was looking forward to trying out this location, as it would be a new one for us.
