You don't stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing.
Re: Fire at Mongoose Junction
Unfortunately, the fire destroyed the Tap Room. One of my favorite places.
Here is their Facebook post:
Unforunately there was a fire at Mongoose Junction today on the second floor that considerably effected the Tap Room. As we are able to assess the damage we will update our fans and supporters. The Virgin Islands and our stateside friends have always rallied behind St. John Brewers and we have no doubt they will do so again. Thank you all for your generosity and continued support!

Second hand scuttlebutt from a neighbor who was stuck at the scene, but we heard that it took 45 minutes for the fire department to respond, since they did not have a formal street address (!?!), and that when they did, the water truck was empty. It is very likely that a prompt response would have substantially reduced the damage, which is extensive: Ocean Grill, Tap Room, and other nearby shops. Sad.
All the best,
Kevin

I hope there will be a fundraiser to help those adversely affected by this fire - so sad - and I hope that any problems that might have contributed to the severity of the damage will also be addressed. Thinking of everyone affected and wishing you the best.

Oh no. How devastating. So sorry for the all of the businesses involved.
Re: Fire at Mongoose Junction
Hopefully when they rebuild sprinkler systems will be installed. This sucks out loud, really feel for these business owners.

I'm assuming these business have commercial insurance which covers everything from business interruption to physical damage. According to news of st john the fund will be for employees which makes sense as they , unless elligible for unemployment, would not be covered for lost wages.

Re: Fire at Mongoose Junction
And history repeats itself...
I believe the last fire at Mongoose was in the same relative area, starting in a similar beauty salon as mentioned in Rae Ellen Lee's book "My Next Husband Will Be Normal". The salon was more street side last time but weirdly familiar.
Here's to hoping everyone comes back from this (especially the Tap Room) and they find another separate building to house the beauty salon. Maybe out back above the toilets?

Let us live so that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.
