Thanks for the links to your blog. We did a trip in Feb with a 16 month old and will be going back same time next year so I can relate to many of your comments!

Jumby Beach is another good beach for water/sand activities. Our son played on his own with the sand screen for about an hour and tired himself out so much, he crawled up onto the blanket and fell asleep - a true vacation miracle!

PA Girl: I've never been to Jumbie beach. There's a bunch of beaches we have yet to explore on St.John; I'll put that one higher up the list.

A few things I forgot to add: I never saw a bug in the condo, except a mosquito or two that snuck in when I had the door to the veranda open. I used to live in the tropics so I know how tough it is to keep a place bug-free.

Speaking of mosquitos, they were bad at the beaches. I didn't get bitten but my husband and son were chewed on quite a lot. I don't know why they don't like me (boo-hoo) but I sat out on the veranda a lot in shorts and a tee and was barely bothered.

I enjoyed the reports!

It reminded of traveling with my daughters when they were younger. It's more fun when they're big enough to carry all their own gear! It used to be a tradition for my youngest to fall asleep at La Tapa. She hasn't done that since she was 7.

Cheers, RickG

RickG - your comment about the kids carrying their own gear made me smile. My dad had a rule that everyone had to carry their own skis/boots/poles, beach gear, luggage, etc. His health doesn't allow travel (or much else) and I miss the family trips.
