One week and counting down...what to do???

Post by northerngal »

We leave a week from today so what do I do with my time???? I could pack and unpack a thousand times only to end up with way too many clothes, I could over plan our trip, only to not follow any of those plans....
I'm going stir crazy because now that I know we are going....I just want to get there!
Any last minute suggestions???

I think you should practice making you tropical drink recipes at home for the next seven days, so you have the recipe down pat once you get on island. 8)

Large plastic picher for the beach, I always pack my own along with some straws and a few koozies.
Fill half full with ice then add
1/3 part rum
1/3 part coconut rum
1/3 part Island juice maybe (Orange, pinapple, mango)
1 lime cut in wedges - squeezed

Pack in a cooler with 2-4 cups and head to the beach!

My week before chores include:
Go to the post office and put a hold on the mail.
Go to the bank and get cash.
Assemble my folder with flight info/passports, print any excursion/things I want to try to have easy access to phone numbers and address, phone numbers of hotel/parking garage.
Place the polar bear cooler into freezer.
Call the car rental and confirm reservations.
Call the credit card company and alert them of travel.
Start cleaning out the refrigerator of left overs, perishable food.
Make sure there is enough dog food for the dog sitters.
And lastly, do the happy dance because we are so close to being on island!!

PaminMaine,

Thought I would follow up with the Holding the Mail comment - I am able to go on line and have my mail held - no need to go to the post office.

One other item - it is always good to make a couple copies of your passport as well as the front/back of any credit cards you are taking with you and keep one copy back home, the other copy with you, but not with your cards, etc. That way if you should lose/misplace any of these items, you will have the information available for calling a reporting it.
