Doc in the Box question

Post by Jan&MikeVa »

Yes, it happened. Hubby had to go and hurt himself at work yestserday. Not too bad, just a few stitches on his right thumb. The GOOD news is that it's not like his bad fall last June. The BAD news is that he has stitches that have to come out next week while on Island.

Anyone know of a good place to get them plucked out??

Mikes plan: Soak thumb all day in nice Caribbean salt water, pop stitches out himself, and do some serious limin'!   I'm just glad the heaviest thing he has to lift all next week is a cooler! 8)

Thanks!

Sounds like a plan but a few painkillers before he pops the stitches out himself should help ease the pain. Maybe you should plan on staying an extra week for a recovery period. (I try to justify everything!) Ali~

I used to go to Dr McMullen ( I think that is how it is spelled, it has been awhile) and I always liked him.

You can also go to the clinic, which has doctors on duty all day.

Great folks at the clinic I would just give them a call when you are here to set up a time and day :)

Uh, stupid question........where is the clinic you guys are talking about?

Having never had to use a Doc while on Island I'm out of this loop!!!

Thanks for the help..........Obsessed I'm keeping you away from Mike on Sunday!! :P :P :P Just kidding, maybe you can set up shop on the beach. Now that's the way to get stitches removed, on the beach and self medicated!

The Myrah Keating Heath Center 340-693-8900 is on Centerline Road just past "Tony's" food truck (from Cruz Bay) at the intersection of Gift Hil Road and Centerline - right where the cows usually hang out :)
Hope this helps

Thanks Pia, I know exactly where you're talking about. I wasn't sure what kind of clinic it was, thought maybe a hospital.

I'll look for you swimming at Maho, we'll be there early at least one day next week!

Jan - I was gonna say the same thing as Obsessed

My cat had surgery during our evacuation in Lafayette and the stitches needed to come out when we were back home but I couldn't find a vet so I had to take them out...no big deal. Let Obsessed do it :D

My SO's are ready to come out and we took one out the other day because it was bothering him getting snagged on his shirt - went fine. It's painless - just a snip and then pull it through.

As long as the wound is closed well and there is no "funky" drainage, I would also take them out. Just get a pair of very skinny sharp scissors. If one is squeamish, then maybe not such a good idea. Sounds like a job for obsessedmuch.
Going "home" again October 26th!
