shells

Post by friedcrabb »

Anyone have any good tips for how to clean shells or sea urchins or dollars when they smell of sea water and have sea scum on them? I've tried bleach, but it takes all the color out, and makes them weak.

The only way I know is a pail of water and bleach, maybe a 1/2 to 3/4 cup of bleach to a pail of water and let sit for a day or 2.

I've heard to leave them out for the ants and they will clean your shells for you!

Try "Greased Lightening" available in most grocery stores and hardware stores.
It works miracles on most everything. I'd use it with hot water.
I use it in laundry to get rid of grease, odors, pet urine, mildew, blood, stains, lipstick, etc. as a spot treatment and just add it like bleach. It doesn't bleach, though, just cleans.
Hope this helps. 8)
