Catch an 8:20 flight?

Post by Backtotheislands »

My sisters may possibly join us in STJ for our next trip. One is looking at a STT - DFW flight return at 8:20 in the morning on American. Is that doable catching the 6 AM ferry on a Wednesday morning????

BTTI: Making an 8:20 AM flight is possible, but that's not to say there won't be some stress, and some risk. In their favor is flying during a month that is very quiet (kids back in school, still some storm risk, both islands as low season as they get), flying mid-week, and departing that early in the morning. I would expect the airport to be uncrowded at 7 AM, and an hour and twenty minutes there should be more than enough in those specific circumstances. At other times of the year, or on a Saturday, this simply wouldn't be possible. I have been successful with low season, midweek flights at or before 9 AM, but if your guests weren't comfortable with the risk, you could still hang with them well into the evening on St. John, and drop them off for a late ferry and cab ride to the Best Western Emerald Beach, right next to the airport.

All the best,

Kevin
