Becky, I did not know about your cancer scare- I am so happy to hear that you put it back in it's place and the ultimate victory is a spontaneous rejuvenation trip to your happy place. I would do exactly the same thing! Caneel looks just beautiful and I love the way you just chilled there. Interesting to hear that the Scott Beach rooms are a bit smaller. We stayed on Turtle Bay just for a night a couple of years ago and it was not as spacious as our friends room on the point that overlooks the main Caneel beach. Would not stop me from staying again though.

Your snorkel photos are always my favorite. I guess you heard that Gallow's mascot Mask passed away after a very long and full cat life. He's buried down by the lower gazebo. Looking forward to your next report. Where are you staying then??

So excited to see your report. My husband hardly looks at anything on here but when I mentioned your name he was all in and enjoyed it.Your pictures were amazing as always. Some looked like postcards.

Hope to someday be able to stay a few days at Caneel. What is your favorite place there since you have stayed there so much? We always snorkel and enjoy going from main beach over to Scott. This year we saw so many fish around point. We have got to stop at Terace for sushi after seeing your pictures.

Glad to see you went to Lucy's after all the bad service noted on here. We always plan on being there a while and enjoy the view while waiting.

Am I remembering right that you moved? I was wondering if you had a bigger kitchen. You are inspirational in your love for cooking.

May you continue to get stronger and enjoy your trip with your family later this summer.

I don't believe that there will be a better time to post a first contribution to the board than this thread. I've been lurking for a few years and just have to come out of the shadows to thank you for your amazing trip report and to chime in with wishes for your continued health. Many trip reports have touched me but yours is simply amazing for so many reasons. Thank you!

Becky like always phenomenal photos and trip report. Enjoyed meeting you and John at Woody’s block party. John and I have the same tastes at ZoZo’s I also had the shrimp risotto dinner. Our 30th anniversary dinner was very memorable for the group and our walk of woe on Monday was hard. We all had great weather for our week on St. John as it looks like this week had more rain.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I really appreciate all of your well wishes.

"cindygad"
Hope to someday be able to stay a few days at Caneel. What is your favorite place there since you have stayed there so much?

Not counting the times we were upgraded for free to cottage seven under the old management, I have two favorite rooms. Both are in the ocean view category. 7A, which is the room right behind cottage seven. I like it because it is a separate unit and easily walkable to Scott. Plus it has the same decor as cottage 7. And 99, which is on Turtle Bay. It is HUGE and has a huge private patio.

"cindygad" Am I remembering right that you moved? I was wondering if you had a bigger kitchen. You are inspirational in your love for cooking.

Yes, John and I moved in December. We signed the P+S the day after I was diagnosed. That was a leap of faith to be sure, especially since my doctors said they would not really know what we were dealing with until after the surgery. I now have TWO kitchens! I want to make a few changes to the main kitchen soon but we are still settling in so probably won't get to it for a little while. I like the layout but want to switch the stove from convection to gas and I also want to change the countertops.

"Agent99" I guess you heard that Gallow's mascot Mask passed away after a very long and full cat life. He's buried down by the lower gazebo. Looking forward to your next report. Where are you staying then??

Yes, he had a pretty cushy life though, and what a nice resting place. We are splitting our stay this summer, one week on Contant Point and one week on Francis Bay.

"southernmom"Your pictures are gorgeous! What kind of camera did you use?

The above ground camera is a canon D60, and underwater either a canon D20 or the new olympus tough.

"star2515" We ended our trip at Caneel after a villa stay. We tried to take the Caneel ferry into STJ but they wouldn't let us, said it was insurance issue.

That is interesting. We took the Caneel ferry in a couple of years ago when we were starting at a villa. Our bags ended up getting loaded on to the room luggage carts by mistake and we had to wait about two hours for the bags to be tracked down. It definitely negated any time saving ideas we had! Management bought us a drink while we waited for them to find our bags though.

Thanks for sharing. This trip must have felt like a mega dose of chicken soup for the body and soul.

Your photography just gets better and better.

And even though you were right there at Gallows, unless I missed it, still no mention of getting to the waterfront bars for happy hour LOL.

I'm so glad that we got to see you while you were here, and that you are feeling better. We hope to be able to spend some more time with you when you're here with "the invasion" in July!

Thanks for all of the verbal and visual reminders of what a wonderful place STJ is!

Just adding to the above - thanks for the trip report and many blessings for good health going forward! We are getting ready for our first stay at Caneel, so I will be posting some questions in a separate thread. I don't want to "mess up" this thread :)

So forget the apples, apparently going to Zozo's every day keeps the doctor away. Who knew?

Echoing all the sentiments above...congrats on the recovery and here's to you keeping the "food porn" coming for many more years. :D
