Villa Provisioning - STJ
Villa Provisioning - STJ
It sounds like Mixology has been doing a great job of delivering the juice for recent visitors. Has anyone found an affordable grocery provisioning service? I'm not thinking catering, more like Bobby's on Tortola.

We used Christy's to bring us platters for our first night in the villa as well as breakfast fixin's for the next day. Not sure I would call it affordable but she did a nice job.

Rick - we used Katilady for both grocery provisioning and in-villa dinner. The dinner was wonderful, the provisioning was okay. It was more peace of mind having the groceries there upon arrival as it was our first trip to STJ and were concerned ahead of time about finding Starfish and the like on our first day there, however, we drove right past it on our way to the villa and could have easily stopped. We ended up getting to our villa, seeing what else we needed, and turning right around to make a run to Starfish. We had also ordered a case of beer and some rum with the package, but the beer, although placed in the fridge by Katilady, was still warm. Bummer.
All in all, unless we'd be arriving very late in the evening, we won't be using the grocery provisioning on our next trip, although we'll definitely be doing the in-villa dinner again.

martini girl, one great thing about Bobby's is that you can order ahead of time and stop by and pick everything up packed and ready to go or have it delivered. I hate spending that chunk of time doing the grocery shopping. I would be SOOOO happy if I could just pop in and pick up. Something like Brew-Thru in North Carolina.
Tortola has the demand from the sailors. I think STJ has the demand from the villa people.

Just used The Grocery Goddesses for a villa on STT and they mentioned that they are beginning to provision folks heading to STJ. They will deliver everything to the airport or Red Hook and hand off or load the rental - refrigerated items in coolers. This appeals to me, especially when taking the car ferry - just load up and head onto the ferry, no taking the time to shop on the way to Red Hook. I also found them more reasonable than others - $25 plus 18% of cost of items. On STX in April we were charged an hourly rate, got a lot less groceries and paid a higher fee. The GGs also paid very close attention to instructions and refrigerated only the quantities of soda, mixers, beer that we requested - just enough to start us out and not overload the fridge. On STX, they didn't and threw everything into the fridge - we had to unload most of it - the fridge was groaning and nothing was cooling off.
