Trip report – March 8-15…it’s a long one…lol
Saturday 8th:
After surviving the insanity of Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta, we arrived in STT around noon and were on our favorite rock soon thereafter (with the help of the lovely Rachel). Got the vehicle and walked over to the Beach Bar for our first island beverage. Nothing like sitting by the water with a Painkiller in hand after a long flight. We contacted Nancy Stromp and made our way across to meet her in Coral Bay. (I can’t type enough praise for how wonderful our stay was at Nancy and Jason’s home, Pelican Beach! Right on the water. Beautiful home. Great couple. If you are interested in knowing more about their home, PM me and I will give you all of the wonderful details.) After settling in at the house, we ventured out for dinner at Shipwreck Landing and picked up a few supplies at Calabash Market. Great food at SL as always. Love Calabash. Good selection and nice people.
Sunday 9th:
I realized that though I am NOT a morning person, suddenly I become one on STJ! Got up early everyday to hit our favorite beaches. It was a little busier than we are used to, but we managed to avoid the “crowds” by our early rising. First day’s beach had to be my sentimental fav, Saloman. Husband is never a fan of the hike back up, but we both love that special beach. We saw what we were later told was Eric Clapton’s yacht. Nice to say the least. Beautiful beach day, followed by late lunch at Woody’s (learned that my other hubby, KC, was on the rock) and then a nap at the house. Had dinner at Skinny’s. Always love that place.
Monday 10th:
Made it out early again today. Off to Waterlemon to snorkel. Believe it or not. We had never been there. I had a new mask and was dealing with a leaky seal, so I chose to just swim. Worked out well. Apparently the sea creatures felt sorry for me. Turtles came and hung out with me, plus an eagle ray. I got some great video and all while standing in chest deep water. Lazy woman’s snorkeling! Ha We walked thru the Annaberg ruins and headed over to my new favorite beach, Jumbie. We waited out a little shower in the car (there’s something sexy ‘bout the rain) and then spent awhile chill in on the beach. Lunch at Cruz Bay Landing and some shopping at Freebirds and St. John Spice. Grabbed a nap and had late dinner at Margarita Phil’s. First visit and food was great.
Tuesday 11th:
Up early to hit one of my hubby’s new fav beaches, Hawksnest. Stayed until it got a little crowded and headed into town for lunch at Banana Deck. Stopped by St. John Brewers for a little shopping and a beverage. Walked around town and headed back. Dinner again at Skinny’s. Yum.
Wednesday 12th:
After a little mix up with our water taxi (no worries), we caught the interisland ferry over to Jost for a full day of fun. First stop, of course, Soggy’s for a morning Painkiller. Lol Mic was the life of the party as always! Did some people watching since the Star Clipper was there. Met some really nice people from the boat, as well as staying at Perfect Pineapple (we are considering staying there a few nights our next trip). Headed over to Ivan’s. Saddened to learn that he has Parkinson’s. Prayers to him as he deals with that cruel disease. Grabbed a cab over to Foxy’s for lunch and relaxing to finish out our BVI daytrip. Walked back to Ferry and headed back to STJ. Rested a bit and had late dinner at Aqua Bistro. Great service and food.
Thursday 13th:
Got early start and stopped at Gibney, but ventured over to my new love Jumbie. Yet again, dealt with leaky mask but snorkeled some. After seeing a few fish, I came back to swim. Sea creatures took pity again. Standing in waist deep water, I was almost knocked down by a gorgeous sting ray. Two couples on the beach saw him and guessed he was at least four-five feet across. What can I say…I’m a creature magnet! A guy on the beach told me to stay in the water while he snorkeled! ☺ Lunch at Joe’s Rum Hut. People watching and shopping, plus a run by Columbo’s for a smoothie on the way back to Coral Bay. Walked to Miss Lucy’s, from the house, for dinner. Enjoyed the gorgeous moon while sleeping outside on the deck. A perfect night.
Friday 14th:
Headed out early to Cinnamon Bay. A must stop for us each trip. Lunch at the Beach Bar, and were treated to drinks by our waitress in honor of our 10th anniversary. Little shopping in Coral Bay. Some pre-packing. ☹ Listened from our deck to Inner Visions play at Miss Lucy’s Full Moon Party, then headed over for our early anniversary dinner at Morgan’s Mango.
Saturday 15th:
Time to leave paradise. After much insanity at L&L Rental, we grabbed a quick breakfast at Cruz Bay Landing. (if you want the details about the car, see my other post on here…in short, DO NOT rent from them…I learned a $200 lesson…ugggghhhh) Watched people getting ready for the St. Paddy’s Day parade. Then, got to airport 2 hours in advance. Thank goodness. It was the usual busy Saturday at customs and security. AND, I find out that I’d been put on standby on a full flight! No idea why. Anyway, thanks to a very understanding Delta employee who took pity on our morning of heck with the car rental…I not only got on the flight, but I was able to sit by my hubby and get a window seat.
Until next time…guess it's time to start planning the next visit.

Great report! Sounds like a wonderful time! We hit Jumbie last year for the first time and LOVED it! This year Denis will be the bucket list beach. Thanks for sharing!

Enjoyed you report. Pelican beach looks nice. Would it work for 2 couples. I realize it only has one bathroom. The outside living area looks inviting.
You ate at two places we need to try. Morgan Mango's and Margarita Phil's how was the food there?
Congrats on your anniversary what a great place to celebrate.
