Packing photos

We're 5 days and counting from 16 days on st. john...since this week will be hectic at work we are getting packed today, here is what I (Rob) plan on packing, do you think this is too much for 16 days?:

Hey, are you guys going to be around on the 27th?? There's a forumite gathering at The Beach Bar 4:00ish, outside on the beach for the Jazz Jam & drinking of cold beverages. Hope to meet you guys!

Okay, you all are so motivating that I finally got my act together. Please forgive the whine but... carry-on only is haaarrrdd. Wah.

Here's the bottom of the suitcase- fins, Keens and three flip flops.



Then I stuffed a whole lotta cr*p in there. There are layers upon layers, I tell you.


Then, here's what's left to go in the tote (plus cameras and running shoes.


I didn't think I could get near what I got into the bags, so that's impressive on it's own. Also, just to be clear, I mailed a box down a couple weeks ago and without that, there is just NO way.

Y'all taught me well, though. This will be my first time with carry-on only.

To fit more things in we've used those clear big plastic bags that you stuff as much as you can into and them can roll up and squeeze the air out of to make it smaller. They work really well (except you have to realize that things still weigh the same and therefore can get heavy ) The one "beware" though is that if you over pack them too much and then roll them up they explode and go BANG Oops!
They're not the kind you need the vacuum suction for, just roll out the air. As long as you don't over pack they work great

Carry-ons are the only way to go! Our family of 4 went to Europe for 25 days last summer and we didn't check a thing.

We each had a rolling carry-on, and a personal item. Our (4) personal items consisted of 1 laptop, 1 garment bag that folded in half, 1 large tote to use on our excursions during the day (so large my purse fit into it), and 1 backpack full of tour books, etc.

We even had semi-formal attire in there! We used a couple of sizes of large zip loc bags (largest size was 1.5 gallon), rolled everything up, and pressed the air out. It worked out well since we had a few plane connections to make.

OK...5 or so hours later, plus a magnum bottle of champagne, a few beers and a bottle of wine we have it narrowed down a bit, but according to Cindi this could be subject to change. Actually, Cindi thinks she has it narrowed down enough that she might be stopping at the mall on her way home tomorrow night

Add snorkle gear and subtract the books and you've got my husbands bag. His attention span only lasts long enough for car and boat mags.

Of course, I fill any knook he leaves with flip-flops!

Rob7...you guys should be joining us! maybe next year huh?
I am a little ate up with books geared toward flying as you can see...but everyone has to have their passion and mine keeps me outta the bars (most of the time) good thing there are no strips on st. john or I'd be in big trouble!

I think Cindi has it all under control but we may have to add a bag for the Tigger treats!

I have read Flight of Passage twice- great book!

Flight of Passage is a great book! this will be my 2nd reading as well. Those boys were insane, but I'd love to have the courage (or stupidity) to do what they did at 16 years old.

Toni, those are great! I bought some at REI before we went to Maui last Dec., then loaned them to a friend for her trip to Mexico. I think I'll pick some extras up before our next trip. Very handy!
