When we went just the two of us, we opted for Estate Lindholm - www.estatelindholm.com - and were EXTREMELY happy with our decision.

It's in an ideal location for us...just outside of town and close to the North Shore beaches.

Don't know about actual villas but all of them allow you to rent based on the number of people.

MAYBE Stone Cottage? I have not seen it but a couple on the plane stayed there and had no complaints.

The location is good and the price not bad

I stayed in Stone Cottage when I first got on island......since my friends are the renters.....
I asked my buddy Teri what her and hubby were looking for........I think they want to go in Feb to renew their vows.........I would have put them at Concordia or Maho

Villa for 2 people

Post by Knolmom »

My favorite is Cinnamon Tarn, wonderful for 2 and great privacy. Have stayed there twice. Would have loved to do Island Time through CV this year but we did get a group together for November. Carnival Beach House looks great, and Beyond the Sea and Sea Stone are also great for 2. Nautilus is a good choice if you are on a budget and only need a jacuzzi, but want A/C. We are staying there for 5 days in November before the group trip.

We have done Villa Capiz by ourselves, and also a past version of Allesandra.
Although it says that Allessdandra is a new house, I have to believe it was Villa Da Vida in its past life.
Villa Da Vida was next door to Sundance and Moonsong across the street from La Barracuda, and just above Jazz Villa.
I guess I should ask Waterguy about that one.

For two we have stayed at Perelandra, Beyond the Sea, Intima-sea, Miles Away and Sailview.

Miles Away is by far the favorite, we're staying again in December.

If they don't need a villa, but rather a guest suite, Sailview is quite nice and very affordable. It is in Coral Bay. No pool or kitchen (does have refrig and BBQ however), but very comfortable and hosts Mike & Eileen are super nice folks.

I believe most of the above mentioned villas can be found on vrbo.com. Beyond the Sea is by Destination St John. (so is Miles Away, but MA is also listed on vrbo) Perelandra is thru Carefree Getaways and Sailview is directly from owners.

Pat, what more can you report on Beyond the Sea. I have always liked the looks of that one but I thought I read some unfavorable reports along the way.

Hey, just got back from Beyond the Sea and we all absolutely LOVED IT...It is great for 2 or 4...had everything we needed..no problems , other than running out of gas the next to last day...BUT, it has just been sold...closed in late april I think and we were told that we were some of the last renters...don't know if the new owners are taking it off the market or changing companies...its a shame, we definitely stay there again...its hard to beat that view
I'd rather be in the boat with a drink on the rocks than in the drink with a boat on the rocks

villas for 2

Post by Knolmom »

Toured Beyond the Sea 2 yrs ago. Love the area and those views. It is not a large place, and it reminds me more of a "cottage by the sea" place than an expansive villa. It was very sunny, very cheery furnishings, a separate pod for the 2nd bedroom and a wonderful cliffside sitting area in addition to the main area just outside the house. The pool was small and has latticework over the top, which is great if you like to have some shade. It is kind of tucked into a corner below the parking area and away from the house. I would not think it affords much all-over-tan privacy but have read reviews from people who used it for that purpose.
Rich and I really loved the house and the views, but it doesnt have a king bed. I have read every review I could find over the years and thought any negativity was associalted with it not being really upscale and having more of a "cottage feel". Someone also complained about the lack of beach chairs and coolers but I think it was a one time thing.
Although we only toured the place and didnt stay there, we preferred it to Villa Capiz, where we were staying. We really love the in-your-face blue water views when on St John, and this place has them.
It know it was/is for sale and I dont think DSJ reps it now. Just saw it on onlinevacations.com the other night with 2007 prices so it must be renting.

Hubby and I stay at Maritage Cottage. http://www.acharminghideaway.com/. We have stayed there 6 times and love it just for the two of us. It is located in Chocolate Hole and has a Hot Tub (no pool). I will give you more details if your interest - just PM me.

XOXO

If it doesn't have to be a villa, but a guest suit in a villa, we can recommend Stairway to the Stars (vrbo). It's situated in Coral Bay and is very new and fresh with a large deck overlooking Coral Bay. The view is stunning.

There is a full kitchen with everything you need and a lovely outdoor shower.

It does not have air condition (we did not miss that) or pool. It was only $950 for a week in high season.

Thanks for the tip. This is up near where we stayed recently and is 50% less. I love a good deal!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Gatehouse at Peterbay :!: :!: :

Just stayed there & it was awesome, absolute best view of Cinnamon Bay & Peter Bay. Best access to Trunk, Cinnamon, & all the other beautiful Northshore beaches, including the private beach Peter Bay.

Hoping to get my pics of it soon & trip report, along with villa review; just got back home this past Monday.

Hey Knolmom,
By your description of the location, Allesandra is definitely not Villa de Vida. Allesandra is located up RockRidge Road, the first left past the Westin. Going up the road, Allesandra is just past Ambiance and La Papaya and before Treasure Ridge and Temptress.
Allesandra looks down over the Westin condos into Great Cruz Bay. 8)
