Coconuts layout

Post by nancyr84 »

We will be staying at the popular villa Coconuts in June. This is our first time staying in this area on the island and cannot wait for those gorgeous sunsets. Can anyone comment on the layout. Are the building connected, do you go outside to go to bedrooms or kitchen. I have looked at the pictures a million times but still cannot figure it out.

Kevin, the owner of Coconuts, is active on this forum and will likely chime in. You might be able to PM him.

When you enter from the parking area the kitchen building is on your left. The pool is right/center and the 2 bedrooms are far right.
As you walk forward the great room with loft is on your left. So in front of kitchen but not connected. The pool table/bar/outdoor kitchen are in front of great room.
Stayed there in September and loved it. You should be able to find my photos on this forum.

Happy to help with any questions.

Nancy: Thanks for asking, LV, for the prompt, and MB for the details. Coconuts has the same architectural layout as its sister villa Plumeria (http://www.vrbo.com/472847), which we purchased last year. Both villas are sited on lushly landscaped and completely private half acre lots, on the flat summit of the highest westward (and sunset) facing ridge of St. John, along Gifft Hill. Their layout emphasizes Caribbean indoor-outdoor living; each villa technically consists of four separate masonry buildings, centered around an interior courtyard and pool, and with lots of outdoor spaces. The master and guest bedrooms share a thick masonry wall, but have separate hip roofs. At Coconuts, the main kitchen is a free-standing masonry building, while at Plumeria, previous owners connected the kitchen to the great room. Both villas have a gazebo (dining only at Plumeria: living and dining at Coconuts), as well as a very nice porch facing the view. The porch at Coconuts includes a granite outdoor kitchen as well as a pool table, while the porch at Plumeria is mostly a comfy porch facing the view. A granite outdoor kitchen adjacent to the dining gazebo at Plumeria has recently been added. I will do my best to post layout drawings tomorrow, but we only arrived on island today, and just got back from Cruz Bay Landing's Grand Opening, which I hope to post on in the AM.

All the best,

Kevin

I'll take that as a hint. Merely editing an existing but outdated floor plan for Plumeria has taken a lot more time than I expected, and I'm not sure when I can make the major edits to provide one for Coconuts. I have a lot of projects underway on this (as with every) trip, and do want to try paddleboarding out to and snorkeling Johnson's Reef. Anyhow, since prior to the remodeling Coconuts and Plumeria were very similar, the attached floor plan for Plumeria will give you a good sense of the layout. The differences with Coconuts are that the kitchen isn't connected, as it is at Plumeria, the gazebo is larger and includes a couch and chairs, the lower deck is centered, and the porch is larger, with a billiard table and a larger granite outdoor kitchen. Hope this helps.

All the best,

Kevin
