Casa Tua trip report, part 1

Post by StJohnbum »

We left Louisville and 15 degree temps Saturday morning and flew Delta to Atlanta, of course, and then on to St. Thomas. Great trip, no issues. We had mailed 2 boxes to Connections in advance so we can travel carry on only. I mean really, how much do you need on St John? If the villa has a washer a couple of pair of shorts, a couple tees and a bathing suit and we're set. Jumped off the plane with bags in hand and Christopher, of Christopher's taxi was there waiting for us. Jump in the taxi and pray we make it to the dock as Chris is non-stop multi-tasking as he darts through the downtown traffic. Chris has a ton of stories and cracks us up. He drops us at Dohm's water taxi and they are there waiting for us. We had a great captain this trip. A young man named Brandon who is 22 and has been living here since he was 18. A very friendly kid who is living life to the fullest. He saves his money and then takes great trips to all parts of the world. He was a pleasure and dropped us at the National Park Dock in record time. Just a short walk to Cool Breeze to pick up the jeep and we are off to Starfish to load up on food and adult beverages. Over to Coral Bay and back to Casa Tua. We've been fortunate enough to stay at many great villas on our trips here and while Wings Over Water is probably our favorite, Casa Tua is a very close 2nd. Heck, maybe a dead heat tie! We are here with friends and they are in the guest house and we are in the main house. It is an absolutely wonderful arrangement that provides great spaces for all and provides for privacy as well. The porches are wonderful and the breezes and sounds of the waves are the best we have ever found on the island. You have total privacy when you are on any of the 4 covered porches. We are a pretty laid back group and the main activity is just chilling out. We've eaten at Shipwreck Landing, Aqua Bistro and had lunch at Island Blues today. We tried to hit Miss Lucy's Sunday Brunch but waited too long and the crowd was nuts, so we decided we would come back next Sunday. Casa Tua is very near Miss Lucy's, in fact you can see it from their tables, it is the blue house on the cliff right on the water. We are going to hit Miss Lucy's tomorrow and then come back and chill out. Just having a great time. We have been To STJ enough that there is mo pressure to go to the beaches or find new places to eat. For us it is all about sitting on the porch reading, napping and living in the moment. It is great to be back........... More to come
