Question - Crowds at End of March and Villa Dos Palmas

Post by ArkieLovesSTJ »

We have made three trips to STJ. Once in early May, once in mid-September and once in early-October. This time we plan to take our two kids and the mother in law. What can we expect the crowds to be like at the end of March compared to the other times we have visited?

We are looking at a villa in the Coral Bay area called Villa Dos Palmas. Does any have any insight on this villa? We have not been able to find many reviews.

I would also welcome any other suggestions for a group of five for the week. We are hoping to stay under $3,500 for the week, and would like to have a pool, AC and a washing machine.

While I have not been there at the end of March, I have been there the first week of April. It was significantly more busy than our other trips later in April or in August. We were fine if we got to the beaches early, but arriving later in the day caused issues with no parking a couple times. If was also a lot more crowded downtown than we were used to. Of course, St John has spoiled us - busy on St John is still way more laid back and uncrowded than a typical day at the beach elsewhere. I would not hesitate to go again at that time.

Sorry I can't address your specific villa question. I can offer a suggestion if you decide against that one. We stayed at Satinwood, in Upper Carolina, last year. The view is amazing and we really like the house. It has a pool, three separate bedrooms and bathrooms (2 of the bedrooms also have lofts), and a washer and dryer. It does not have AC, but being located in upper carolina, it really doesn't need it. We would not ever have turned it on even if it was available, a couple nights I actually had to get a blanket. The house is super eco-friendly and totally off the grid, which is cool. It's also very budget friendly - at $3164 for a week. You can check it out here if you're interested http://www.satinwood-usvi.com/Accommodations.html

Enjoy your planning!

After 12 years during the 1st week of April(Spring Break for the kids) we are amazed at the number of plebiscites on Honeymoon Beach. Maybe 30 people vs 3000 on Clearwater Beach.....shhhhhh don't tell too many

Thanks for the villa suggestion, michigan! We will check it out.

We just pulled the trigger on airline tickets. You are both right about the beaches will only be busy compared to other times on STJ. Our kids have on ever been to Myrtle Beach, SC. Where you have to weave your wave across the sand between all the tents and blankets just to get to the water. They will be shocked by what they are going to see on STJ.
