I believe the recent invasion of skeeters was brought on by the very unusual amount of rain the week before (I was lucky enough to be there for the torrential rains - prefer those to the infestation :D ), so I doubt you will suffer the same fate. Generally, the bugs (skeeters and noseums) are only really annoying around dusk. Just spray off liberally around that time of day and you should be fine.

We've been to STJ in the months of March, April, June, September and November and never had a major problems with skeeters. I was on STJ this past April the week it rained tons. Believe me, the outburst was from that rain...we had waterfalls coming down the guts along North Shore road at every turn. It's usually pretty dry and the bloodsuckers need moisture to populate. No worries in July.
If you don't take risks, you'll have a wasted soul.
