Waffle Irons
Someone who is staying at Bongo Bongo has put in a request for a Waafle Iron! (Does someone out there need a waffle iron avatar?)
Jeff at Bongo Bongo is now soliciting input on selection critera for waffle irons.
"Waffle iron question. Classic waffles or Belgian waffles? Round or square? (Or heart shaped or circus animals…)
Somebody pointed me to Williams-Sonoma (which made $59 million last quarter), and they have lots of waffle irons, but I need to narrow this down. For me…waffles come in two forms: The guy who makes them at Front Page for brunch, and the box of Eggos in my freezer."
I certainly think he could use our help, especially if it was one of our number who requested a waffle iron!

PLEASE no circus animals or Mickey Mouse!
I think this is so funny. Just because someone asks for something I don't think they should be compelled to purchase it! But it's mighty nice of them.
So let's see... all I want at Bongo Bongo is.....
A cappuccino machine with a frother of course
Riedel glasses for my fine wines
800 thread count sheets (for Jorge)

I agree with California Girl. Definitely one that has removable plates is good. There's nothing worse than a grungy looking waffle iron that's NOT your own!

>>I vote for one that has removable plates (so they can be washed more easily, for one thing) that flip over so you can do pancakes or grilled cheese sandwiches (yum!) on the other side <<

Cleaning a waffle iron can be a pain....go with simple.
I like the regular size. It always seems to hold more syrup!

This whole topic is just too funny...
I wouldn't ever make a waffle on vacation. BUT!
The new waffle iron on the Bongo Blog looks pretty good though. Forget the view, the landscaping, the pool, the hot tub, the cement (sorry guys, used the term!), the coffee grinder. I'll go there for the waffle maker.

Irons without Mixers?
Does Bongo Bongo have a MIXER to mix the batter for the waffles?
Best waffles are made by folding fluffed eggwhites into the batter - it makes the waffles fluffy, airy and light.
Did Jorge really ask for 800 thread-count sheets? Did Bongo-Bongo buy them?
Of course, you could also try making hot chocolate waffles as a dessert:
Chocolate Waffles
From Diana Rattray,

Top these chocolate waffles with ice cream and hot fudge or caramel sauce.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup sifted cake flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 square (1 ounce) unsweetened chocolate, melted
3 tablespoons butter, melted
Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream
Chocolate Fudge Sauce or Caramel Sauce
PREPARATION:
Sift together the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Combine egg, milk, vanilla, chocolate, and butter; blend well. Add egg mixture to sifted ingredients; mix well. Bake in hot waffle iron. Cut into halves and serve with ice cream and chocolate fudge sauce or caramel sauce.
