Coral Bay eats and GOOD sandwich rolls?

Post by mindehankins »

Gathering our thoughts and gear for our first stay on the Coral Bay side!
We'll be too far from Sam & Jacks to pick up sandwiches, but I seeI can buy most of the Sammy Hammy fixin's there, and make sandwiches at "home." Where can we get really good sandwich rolls?

Also, what's open on the Coral Bay side, for late lunches/early dinners? There's a new place on FB called Oasis something, and we'll try to find that. We'll hit the Tourist Trap and Miss Vie's for sure. Any new local-type places we'd like?

Have you looked in to the new sandwich place in Coral Bay called Pickles? I haven't been, but I'm sure someone has that can speak to their menu and quality of sandwiches and other eats.

Pickles is great for sandwiches ! Aqua bistro yummy always for dinner or drinks! Concordia has great apps and Monday open Mike happy hour is fun. Skinny's is always a go to. And Island blues is tasty ( when Open)

Ha, Barb, I wish! We didn't - yet - but I'm hoping for maybe late January :D
We've avoided Skinny Legs because it always looked busy and more touristy than we like, and I heard the wait can be long. Just not our thing. Concordia apps and open mike sounds like a good idea, though!
Maybe we'll pick up Pickles on the second day, and if we like it, we'll skip the stop at Sam and Jack's. We really, really love their Sammy Hammy....

Lily's bakes fresh breads that are really good, not sure if they do rolls or not.
Concordia open Mike is not to be missed. Larry from the Tourist Trap is usually there and it's great to see him with his hair down having a good time. Theres a lot of talent on that little island. You really can't miss Oasis. It's right across from Island Blues and right before the Cocolopo plaza. We love the Coral Bay side of the island.

Minde,

Enjoy yourselves. We really liked staying on the Coral Bay side last April. Got to snorkle in some bays we had never ventured to, Long Bay, Hansen Bay, and Elk Bay. Also hiked the Brown Bay Trail to a very private beach. Fun stuff.

We enjoyed brunch at Miss Lucy's, but not sure we would do it again, overpriced. The view is fab, so next trip it will probably be apps and cocktails. We also love Shipwreck for deserts, and dinner is always good there too. We enjoyed the live music at Island Blues.

What ever you choose to do, hope you have a blast!

From our recent trip;

Oasis by the Sea -very resonable, good food & portions posts menu on facebook daily.
Tourist Trap--love atmosphere, fish taco's were yummy
Auqua Bistro- wonderful for dinner, fresh seafood is divine
Vies--everyone knows it is the best lunch on the island, right?

In the past we have enjoyed Island Blues and Shipwreck Landing...but neither were open on our recent trip. I wanted to try Concordia, also posts daily menus on facebook, but they were just opening toward the end of our stay. Pickles was not open yet.

We loved our first stay on the CB side....villa jumbie was perfect in every way.

Concordia's open Mike is on Monday afternoons, I think they start around 3. Skinny's, Aqua Bistro, Shipwreck and Island Blues all have music at one time or another during any given week. If your ever on island when The Fiddler comes to Skinny's go. It's usually at the end of January. It's a real good time.

Just stop in Skinny's. They have a board that tells what is going on for the week.
Sol Driven Train is a band from NC that is usually around at the end of January too. They are a real fun band that draws a big crowd too. I know they usually play Island Blues not sure about anywhere else.

Hey, Minde.
SO jealous of your upcoming trip, but psyched for you just as much! LOVE Aqua Bistro. I mean,REALLY. It's a sickness, actually. My all time favorite place to lime, get ready for the day, watch people lazily drag themselves in and out of the shops, get over the booze from the previous day/night, meet locals, and wonderful way to end the day. Just miss it so much! Had great tuna dishes there, too. Where are you staying? Still poking around for a place to go next Spring,-leaning towards Mill Ridge.
Have to say that I'm also a big fan of Shipwreck for dinner, too, and agree with the forum family on how great the local lesser known spots are,as well.
Again, so thrilled for you two,-
Smiles-
