Losing patience

Post by mbw1024 »

Today was move day from our lovely villa (Coconuts) to Gallows. I already posted our experience on Facebook, thought I would share here. As my husband said "it is getting exhausting looking over my shoulder and feeling like a criminal everywhere I go". Oh well....tomorrow is another day in paradise.

So here's the Gallows story. Got here around 2:30, go to check in desk. I give my name and the woman at the desk says something about construction, "did anyone tell you"? Seeing as I have been here 2 minutes and you are the only one I have spoken to, no. I figure she is going to tell me that the restaurant is under construction. I can hardly hear the woman because someone is leaf blowing just outside the reception area. Eventually she is able to explain to me that there is construction in our building (10) and they are tiling floors in the upper unit but they are almost done. She says "take a walk to 10 B and see what you think, it is up to you if you want to stay there. Call me from there if you want to stay and we will bring your bags." So we do and ultimately I decide that it isn't too intrusive, we really like this unit, so we are going to stay.
Charlie walks back to the desk to gets bags from car and such and says we are staying in 10B. Then a man got involved ( housekeeping manager) and says you can't stay there, not safe. He and Charlie come back to 10B to tell me this and he says "we really can't have you stay here but. It is up to you". So, I say ok, makes sense, what are my options. I like to be near the pool if possible". He shows us 12C and I say fine. Done. We will stay here". Charlie returns to reception to finish the paperwork, get keys, bags get delivered. We're good. We unpack cold stuff. Haul suitcases up to the loft, unpack. I'm laying on the bed just trying to chill while Charlie gets a suit on and we are going to head to pool. Then the phone rings.
It is the asst manager and she says there is an issue. Can't stay in 12C for a week, we would need to move by Wednesday. Seriously?????? Like for real? Why did you just put me here?? Well, housekeeping guy really shouldn't have done that. So options are stay until Wed or move now to 4B for the week.
At this point I am really tempted to just move to STT on Wed but I know Charlie really doesn't want to. Sooooo...pack up all the crap and I go to office and tell them we will move to 4B so asst manager takes me to it, shows me around, fine. Done. Please let this end.
I am heading back to the office to get keys and here comes Charlie and his face is the color of a beet! He says "I am so mad I don't know if we are staying here." He flies up the steps to the desk and all I hear is "are you people serious?" Seems while he was packing up our food, Security knocked on the door and asked him what he was doing in this room. There were no registered guests in this room, what was he doing?
Let's just say tempers flared but all is settled now. We hope. Exhausted!

I can only imagine the frustration!
Sorry to hear.... but now that the beaches are open, something tells me if you head over to Maho today, you'll likely forget about it!
Have fun!

Good for them (and you). Service issues can happen to anyone. True character of any business is how they recover from mistakes and "make nice".

Mary Beth,

Have a FANTASTIC rest of your vacation!! So happy to hear that you can now go to those former "supposed" restricted beaches. What a shame though that they didn't allow access all of the time.

Again, you are lucky that you still have many days left to re-coup those lost days of your favorite beaches!! So happy to hear the news!

Wow, are those Planters peanuts? Aren't they about $35 in the grocery store down there? :) Love the Gallows folks. Not at all surprised to hear that they would do something nice after a mess up.
