Hi BetsyV -

Nobody said she couldn't be left at the villa alone, so we didn't think there was a problem with that. She has never destroyed anything of ours, so we felt safe leaving her. She is good and lazy like that. She is also 12, so she spends a good part of the day sleeping, when we aren't exercising her.

We chose the bedroom below the master (by the pool) hoping it would remain cool, and it did. We brought an outside chair, from the deck, into the bedroom for her to sleep on. We brought some of her blankets from home and laid those over the chair and that is where she stayed. She also had her crate on the floor and some water.

To start the day we walked her down the hill next to the villa to do her business (which we picked up with bags of course!) while we had some coffee. Then, after breakfast, we took her into Cruz Bay, for a nice long walk along the water. This way she was tired so we could take a few hours and hit the beach. Then we'd come home for lunch and go in the pool together. Then head out again if we chose to. It seems like a lot of driving, but that is how we spend the day on island on most trips. I'm not a person that can bake in the sun for hours. After 3 or so hours at the beach, I'm ready for a beak.

Most days we would head back over to cruz bay and walk her again in the evening. We were told to steer clear of the pig though! I didn't ask why, but figured they mentioned that for a reason!

I think the weight limit for the airline was 20lbs including the carrier. Plus there were size restrictions on the carrier and the dog has to be able to turn around inside of it. All the airlines are probably different though.

I hope that helps!

Very nice trip report, thanks for sharing! Your dogs are adorable.

I clicked back through to your dining links which I must have missed the first time you posted them. I loved the Caneel sushi too. Also, do you know if Ted's villa is on VRBO yet? I'd like to take a look at it.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Fun! I realized this the first TR I've seen from you with no food porn! Thanks for all the photos.

Just getting back on VIOL after being MIA for a few weeks. SO HAPPY to see this TR!

Our family has a weiner, too. His name is Mr. Bojangles, and don't forget the MISTER. I could only IMAGINE the shenanigans he'd get into on island. How FUN, though! Precious doggies!

We stayed in Fish Bay a few years ago, and MAN - the mosquitos / bugs were HORRIBLE! Was this an issue with y'all, or do you think the villa is high enough up where it isn't an issue? What about the showers - are they all outside? It's definitely a gorgeous villa, so it the bugs aren't an issue, we'll add this one to our short list.

THANKS for sharing!

There is a chihuahua mix at the shelter right now named Skip, I wish someone would give him his forever home, I brought home a little guy from the ACC in January, best decision ever, fit right in with the rest of the humans and canines at home :D
Skip has been adopted!!

When I placed my order the projected delivery was in a week... now, the USPS tracking # shows delivery for today, but the Walmart status says "New delivery date Nov 5" :?
Time will tell, I suppose!

*Thursday Night Update: My order was delivered today! :)
