ST. JOHN, USVI – Gallows Point Resort, the luxury oceanfront condo resort on island of St. John will soon open a gourmet restaurant headed by internationally renowned chef Ramesh Pillai, resort officials have announced. The new restaurant is named Ocean 362, and will feature the famous, spectacular Gallows Point sunset views as well as a new menu of contemporary American cuisine by Chef Pillai.
Featured on the Discovery Channel’s “Great Chefs of the World” program, Chef Pillai is internationally recognized for his acclaimed and innovative cuisine. A native of southern India, he attended the Culinary Institute of America in New York City. For almost three decades, he has created cuisine masterpieces for international hotel chains from Switzerland to Puerto Rico, earning the Silver Fork Award, the Chef’s Hat Award, the title of Chef of the Year from Wyndham Hotels, and a feature story in Gourmet Magazine. At Gallows Point Resort, he will be both chef and owner-partner of Ocean 362.
Recognized as one of the leading resorts in the Caribbean by Trip Advisor, which awarded it the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, Gallows Point Resort recently underwent extensive renovation and is now the only fully equipped luxury condo resort on St. John. General Manager Akhil Deshwal says the opening of Ocean 362 under Chef Pillai’s direction will support and enhance Gallows Point’s new upgrade, and will add a new and distinctive style of restaurant and menu to St. John.
“Chef Pillai has created superb cuisine and masterpiece menus for some of the great hotel chains of the world,” he said. “We are thrilled that he will be practicing his extraordinary talent at our new oceanfront restaurant – Ocean 362. We believe Chef Pillai, his menu and our new restaurant will offer a popular and high-quality amenity for our guests and for St. John’s visitors and residents.”
According to Deshwal, Ocean 362’s menu will include gourmet-style health-oriented dishes as well as Pillai favorites, such as grilled local mahi mahi served with cashew tamarind pilaf, spice crusted seared sashimi tuna, double cut lamb chops with mint chutney, duck confit with mushroom risotto and grilled asparagus, tournadoes of aged beef tenderloin with Asiago chicken sausage and vegetables, Malabar shrimp curry with cumin pilaf, and lobster risotto. An array of new appetizers, soups, salads and desserts will also be featured on the Ocean 362 menu.
The new Ocean 362 restaurant will occupy the renovated second and third floor location which formerly held Zozo’s Italian Ristorante. The restaurant location at Gallows Point Resort is acclaimed for its exquisite sunset views, is within walking distance of downtown Cruz Bay, and will continue to offer free parking to patrons.
Gallows Point Resort has been attracting guests to the blue waters of St. John for almost thirty years, and is known as one of the premier condominium resorts of the Caribbean. Renowned for its lush garden-like atmosphere, gorgeous oceanfront views, superb snorkeling, oceanside pool and gazebo, Gallows Point is also a favorite site for wedding ceremonies and honeymoons – and remains a longtime favorite getaway for USVI locals in the off-season.
The grand opening of Ocean 362 restaurant at Gallows Point is set for mid October.

I heard the grilled cheese sandwich is going to be awesome.....

Sounds like it will be above my budget and dress code, but it`s good to see another restaurant open, more jobs is always good.

Well, that's a little bit of fun news. I always like your posts Exit Zero. It's nice to get some St. John dish when we are so far away.

I think the sample menu sounds delicious. I love Indian flavors, and will definitely try it when we are back on the island.

I think it sounds great and will definitely try it on our next trip in early December. We are staying at Gallows Point for the first time so we might even go more than once.
