Photos of Villas
I'm wondering if anyone can share some photos of villas that they have stayed in on St. John, especially ones that aren't shown on the websites. We will be on the island next month and are already thinking about the trip back to the island for 2008. I know I'm so ahead of myself but I can't seem to help it.
This is Le Lapin on Hart Bay (I picked ones that are not on its website).

arenee,
We enjoyed Le lapin II and stayed there a couple of times. The villa has a very open feel to it since the only direction you can’t see from the villa is southeast (as the website says, it has about a 300-degree view). The last time we stayed there, the view towards the east was cut nearly in half due to the overgrowth of the trees, which was a little disappointing since we could see less of the twinkling lights on St. Thomas.
Furnishing is not upscale especially the bedrooms but it was comfortable. My husband really liked the pool (he likes the kind he can actually swim in and not just wade around). The pool was in the sun all day so it was warm enough to enjoy even around sunset.
Having the stairs inside the house was a plus for us. We prefer that sort of arrangement to multiple pods or external stairs to get to the other rooms.

Here are a couple of shots of the views from Golden Dragon:
From the main deck near the pool.

From the upper bedroom pod

I would have to say that the views are not particularly awe-inspiring in the areas you spend most of your outdoor time (i.e., the pool area) although the view was lovely from the hammock (outside the master bedroom) and the upper bedroom deck.

Ron - good to hear it! We did swim at night without the light, but thought it would have been really cool if it worked! Can I make a suggestion? If there are just the 2 of you going, I would definitely take the top pod bedroom, not the "master" which is in the main house. I am sure Lisa will have no problem with you choosing this bedroom, but she does lock the ones you do not use so you should check it out when she shows you the villa. The upper pod bedroom is, in my opinion, much nicer than the master and the shower is absolutely gorgeous!! Also, by choosing this bedroom you will have access to 2 bathrooms since the "master" bathroom is acessible from the main house.
In case you havent' seen this site http://www.onlinevacations.com/goldendragon.htm it has some great interior pictures. The first 2 are the "pod" bedroom and bathroom that I am recommending.
Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions. I just love talking about this villa!

I have lots of pictures of all the houses we have stayed in, but the only one I have up on flickr right now is Coqui. Here are pictures of villa Coqui, on Great Cruz Bay Road:

Here are the deck chairs at Coqui, they are very comfortable. Note that I am writing my trip report for the "old" forum in this photo. Everyone should do trip reports!

Here is the pool deck. The pool is small but nice. The deck is huge and has great seating for star gazing. We fell asleep out there one night!

Here's the main room. The kitchen is to the left (small, and inexplicably, very pink!!), and the master bedroom and bath is to the right:

There are lots of iguanas at Coqui. They like to hang around the pool, but they are skittish and won't come around when you are in the pool. Here is one hiding in a tree:

When I get back I will post photos of Belvedere, Argonauta, and Cinnamon Tarn. Golden Dragon looks pretty well covered.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
