Delta $269 flight direct to STT for May 2014 NOT!
Just had to vent!
We booked our May 2014 trip to STJ about a month ago with DELTA. We normally fly AA out of JFK but Delta was advertising a direct flight to STT for $269 each way. Can't beat that so we booked the flight.
This AM got a friendly e-mail from Delta that our DIRECT flight was no longer direct and we now have a stop over in Atlanta!
Our return flight has us arriving back a JFK at midnight.
Not a happy camper.
My question is why do they advertise a direct flight for $269 if they have no plans to have that flight. I guess as my husband would say, it's because they can.
As I said, I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening.

If I remember correctly from years ago, direct did not mean nonstop, but that a flight had at least one stop.

If you don't like the changes they made you can cancel and get a full refund and you can make other arrangements.

Still a pretty good fare even with one stop. If the flight number is the same and you don't change planes, it is technically still considered direct!

We do have a layover in Atlanta with a different Delta flight number.
I realize that for $269 you all probably think I am crazy to complain even with the stop over in Atlanta. I know that air fares have gone through the roof and many of you are paying huge amounts to get down to STJ or not even going due to the high fares.
I just needed to vent at the airlines and their attitude that they can do anything they want and we just have to sit there and take it.

Feel free to vent! I'm with you, Delta did the same thing to me last year...
I don't know who is worse Delta or AA? AA bumped me from a flight because I showed up at the STT airport 25 minutes before the flight, I was actually there earlier and went to the front of the line and explained I was on a flight in 45 minutes... could I get in front of the line (late because 2 ferry's never showed for the car barge...) they refused - but still I made it into the terminal ... just in time to actually watch the flight I was on board. So after being # 6 for standby and getting bumped ALL day -8 hours, AA finally put me on a flight with a connection in PR, but when I got to the terminal in PR they told me the reservation was not "finalized" and then charged me an additional $1700 to get home... got to love AA - NOT! SORRY Im venting
