It was our FIRST Eagle Ray sighting....it only took 5 trips!!!

We had just arrived at Francis this morning around 9:30am. Our first snorkel of the day. The water wasn't super clear. We were headed towards the rocks on the right hand side. Out of the darkness, we see something heading our way.

BAM.

A HUGE eagle ray!!

I tried to follow it and snap some pictures, but MAN - that thing was FAST!!!!

What a treat!

Afterwards, the tarpon and turtles were just MEH after seeing THIS!

CSCT: Congratulations!! Encountering a Spotted Eagle Ray is a truly remarkable experience; those two long attending fish in your photo add a really cool touch. FWIW, opening your image in Picassa and clicking "Edit in Picassa" and then "I'm Feeling Lucky", and "Auto Color" is a pretty painless way to address the inevitable color balance challenges of underwater photography.

All the best,

Kevin

Congrats to you! How exciting! Sorry the water was so cloudy... I've never seen it that bad before.
Those ramoras look like landing gear on the bottom of that ER!

A spotted Eagle Ray is on my list maybe next time. We just returned from our vacation on August 5th and noticed the water much more cloudy and also some beaches rough for snorkeling. We still had a fabulous time and can't wait to return for our third visit although may have to wait a few years.
