I received the following reply on Tuesday 8/13 -

Thank you for your interest in Virgin Islands National Park and in particular about encroachments to park lands as reported in the recent News of St John article. I can tell you that the National Park Service is in the process of documenting and quantifying the encroachment and impacts to resources in order to allow us to pursue mitigation and recovery from the responsible parties. I can also assure you that this is not something that we have allowed to occur and in fact have been actively engaged to halt any further damage or impacts. I am not at liberty to discuss an on-going investigation in any more detail but wanted to end by thanking your again for you interest in the park and our wonderful resources.
