Question about Travel Ins....

Post by BAILEYBAY »

We have made 16/17 annual trips to St John and have never purchased travel insurance. Last year we had to cancel our trip due to husbands job loss(it went to Mexico!!!) Luckily, I had not yet purchased our plane tickets but it got me to wondering IF that is something that would have been covered had we had travel ins.....has this happened to any forum members? Also, let me just mention that St John Properties were kind enough to let us use our deposit from our cancelled trip for this coming year. I can't thank them enough for their generosity and good will.Just another reason why we love St John....

Unlikely that this would be covered unless you opted for a "cancel for any reason" provision, which is costly.

that occurs more than 15 days after your effective date
and was not under your control. You must have been
continuously employed with the same employer for 1
year prior to the termination or layoff. This provision is
not applicable to temporary employment, independ.....

TravelGuard Gold and Platinum both cover for "Termination of Employment"
Leap, and the net will appear.

Isn't your effective date your date of travel (as opposed to date of purchase)? So this would have to happen after you were already traveling? #14.

EDIT: Just looked at my own policy and I think I am mistaken. Trip Cancellation date is day after my Ins purchase so I that seems to qualify. Sorry, totally overlooked that. Didn't mean to mislead anyone!

Thanks for all the good info....when we vaca next May my husband will have only been employed for 11 months at his new job, so the 1 year employment stipulation won't be met.
