First Week Has Flown By!!
First Week Has Flown By!!
Sitting on deck watching thunderstorms roll in to Coral Bay...Salt Pond was the plan but waiting for the storm to blow out.
Monday, I did my very first scuba with Capt Dan and Ruby at Kiddle, rough in and out. Amazing 45 foot dive, saw huge Hawksbill, lobster, the point at Kiddle was awesome. Had my only prob early on while in 10 feet, did the drill in removing my regulator, sweeping to find it while blowing out air, when I finally found it and put it back in my mouth not enough air left to blow it out, panicked and shot to surface. One of the big no no's - You have to solve your problem underwater! Colette with 6 Paq is an intense instructor, she makes sure you get it or you don't go out. After my A WHIPPING, smooth hour dive. One of the most amazing water days!
Met Sherban and good looking family, Kentucky Girl and daughter (they truly look like sisters!), Coconut and wife, Rhonda and hubby who we've met before.
The crazy night winds in Coral Bay this trip are nothing like past years!
Tarpon Trunk Bay yesterday was great from 8:30 until 1:00' then 3 cruise ships and I think they were all there, with the megaphone blasting them every 2 minutes, we decided to call it a day - no Tarpons that I could see.
The wonderful Leslie came for dinner Monday night and we spent 4 hours getting to know each other, lots of great stories and laughter. Leslie is such a genuine person, it just shines!!
Week two is rolling along, damn I just wish there was something to do on this island, each day is so boring!!

Glad you're having a great time. It's our first time and the thought of how fast time passes makes me sad already
But don't know why because like you said, there's nothing to do there

Just another day for you, you and me in Paradise...

I'm so proud of you for doing the scuba!! I know how it can be a little nerve wracking at first but it is so awesome once you conquer those initial jitters!! Colette is intense but that's because safety first is her motto and I definitely appreciate that!! I would take her anyway over someone who doesn't pay attention to their divers.
I, too, had a magnificent time with you and your hubby and Cap'n Dan and Ruby!! The leftovers were / are as amazing as it was our night together! Maybe we will have to plan a beach day together during your last week! ( or you guys are welcome to come check out my little cottage!!) xo

It sounds like you are having a great time. The fact that the time is flying by is the first sign.
Using your own air to blow the water out of the reg is a good way to get it done. I don't know what else she told you to do when replacing your reg, but my preference is to purge the air using the button on the back of the reg. It is using air from your tank to push the water out. As a word of caution, push the button just before putting it in your mouth. Any more than that will waste valuable air.

Glad I got to meet you! I wish we'd realized you all were there earlier, so I could have talked more with everyone. I'm flattered by the sister comment...thank you!

Re: First Week Has Flown By!!
I have to agree with you about Colette being the best. Sometime back (been a lot of years) – my wife and I dove with Colette. My wife was new at scuba and it was one of the best times we had. I have been diving for a lot of years (30 +) and maybe Colette told you about this trick on how to clear your regulator when you’re out of air (lung air) – put your tongue into the hole of the regulator and press the purge button on the regulator. Make sure you block the opening in the regulator with your tongue; otherwise the water will be purged into your mouth and not out the exhaust. Just a tip as you log more underwater hours.
