My daughter is joining us in July!
I've been (slightly enviously) reading y'all's trip reports about bringing your adult children to St. John and how much fun it is to show them your favorite place for the first time, and now i get to to do it too! Airfare from Calif finally dropped a little bit, so my daughter and her husband bought tickets. We'll be there from July 10-21; they are joining us on Monday, July 15. We're all very excited (although we'll feel a little better when we get a confirmation back from the management agency that we're good to go with the 2nd bedroom).
Their plane is coming in at 8:45pm, so I guess we'll be hanging out in Cruz Bay that night waiting for the 10pm ferry. Anybody want to join us at the famous Beach Bar??

dreamshark,
How exciting for you!
We will be on island on the 17th for a week...Our 40th Anniversary is the 19th...We will be going to the Beach Bar..Im sure...So maybe we will see you there!
Don't forget to pick up your VIOL/StJ Spice band at St John Spice... When you get off the ferry..We will be...So Look for two 50ish people with them on...It will probably be us...
It wont be too sad for us when we have to do the "walk of woe" at the end of the week, because we are going to spend the next week on St Thomas for my birthday. It's on the 25th...TWO week on the islands...I just cant wait...longest vaca we have ever taken...Yea!

My youngest daughter and her husband are joining us this time and I'm so excited, they have been on island for a day, it was a whirlwind so this time I can give them more than the two cent tour. I really do hope they "get it"

Oh my gosh, that's wonderful, Dreamshark!!! Just wait til they get a look at the view from Skyflower. Do they snorkel as well? That was the one bummer of my trip with Jillian... I couldn't get her to see the magic beneath the water.
Hope you hear about the 2nd bedroom soon, but really there's no way they could rent the bedroom, so I'm sure you're fine.

Wonderful! Don't be surprised if she does not 'get it' (the magic of St John) the evening she arrives (after a long, long day of travel); however, trust me, with the light of day the next morning when she sees the magnificent views and the turquoise waters it will be impossible for her not to fall in love. Enjoy every minute (and post pictures please)!

I loved reading about your trip with your daughter, Minde. It sounds like she pushed her comfort zone as far as she could at the time, and had a wonderful trip because of it. Maybe next time she'll put her head in the water.mindehankins wrote:Oh my gosh, that's wonderful, Dreamshark!!! Just wait til they get a look at the view from Skyflower. Do they snorkel as well? .

I don't think either my daughter or her husband has snorkeled before, but they are willing to learn. Amber is always up for trying new things - SIL is a little more conservative in his approach to life, but pretty much follows where his darling wife leads him. I figure we'll drive into town the day after they arrive and rent them some gear, then drive up to Cinnamon Bay for their first time. I think a not-too-deserted beach with full facilities will feel safer and more familiar for them. I've booked a snorkel cruise with Capt. Phil a few days into their stay, which should be just perfect. Phil is a patient snorkel instructor who has something to offer to any level of snorkeler.

Yeah, I wish they could arrive earlier in the day so I could see their faces when they see the view for the first time. The moment of magic for them will probably be when they wake up in their mountaintop bedroom the next morning (and due to the impeccably private nature of the bedrooms I won't be there to see it). Oh well, it should make the moment all the more romantic from their point of view.StJohnForever wrote:Wonderful!
