Thoughts on Arc du Soleil or Stillwaters?

Post by 3BeachBabies »

Hi folks!

We are two couples coming down next April. Arc du Soleil and Stillwaters are top contenders. Yes, they are pretty different...including on price point. Does anyone have any thoughts that might help to push us one way or the other? It's always such a hard task to push yourself to the more logical option once you've caught the bug for another!

I see that Arc du Soleil does not have A/C at all, where Stillwaters has central air. That would tip my preference toward Stillwaters. Even though we live in the South and are used to heat and humidity, I can't sleep well without A/C in warm weather.

Just my $0.02.

Have you looked at Wings Over Water? Its a bit pricey but a wonderful villa for two couples. It looks pretty booked up but depending on when in April you are looking to go, it may work: http://vacationvistas.com/Villas/Wings-Over-Water.htm

I know that Stillwaters is owned by the people who own Low Key Watersports. If you are going to patronize them, they may give you a better deal on the villa. Give Ann Marie a call.

No AC? Wow, I have looked at that place a number of times and have never noticed that. Scratch that one off my list. That is very surprising in a high end villa like that.

Yep, it's not listed in the amenities, and I didn't notice any evidence of A/C in any of the photos. I had to read the FAQ at http://www.arcdusoleil.com/faqs.html#ac to get a clear understanding that there's no A/C.

The villa looks amazing otherwise, but the lack of A/C is a dealbreaker for us.

To the original poster, my wife and I stayed here last year and are returning again in 2 weeks. The views, privacy, and location are really great, very convenient to Cruz Bay, yet private and secluded as well.

Thanks everyone! Appreciate your thoughts. As much as I am in love with Arc (and not put off by lack of a/c), I can't justify the price difference on this trip. Saving on the house means more boat time...this is what I'm trying to remind myself of!!
