Restaurant for special occasion

Post by HughA »

Any suggestions other than Asolare, The Terrace or Zozos for a special occasion dinner?
Thanks.

Equator at Caneel is quite nice as well. Of course depending on the occasion and who's celebrating Beach Bar could be perfect as well. But in keeping with the other 3 you listed I'd say consider Equator.

Cruz Prime Steakhouse at the Westin. It's as pricey as the ones you mentioned. Also, consider Waterfront Bistro and Ocean Grille. Enjoy.

It doesn't have the view of the others mentioned but I think La Tapa has the best food on the island. We went there for our anniversary last year, I mentioned it and we had a very nice table on the patio (inside). We've eaten there many times and never had a bad meal.
If you are staying in Coral Bay I'd recommend Sweet Plantains.

I would recommend Lime Inn ! Incredible food and impeccable service! We went there for the first time in April and it will now be every trip!! http://www.limeinn.com/

Thanks everybody. We have taken ChipN's suggestion and have made a reservation at the Sugar Mill (formerly the Equator) at Caneel. We will be staying there so it's very convenient. Have always rented a villa but didn't want to lift a finger on this trip. Will be a very different experience.
Thanks again all.

Since you are staying at Caneel Bay, you might also have the option of dining at the Turtle Bay Estate House. It is a beautiful, elegant spot but it's not always open. The Sugar Mill is very nice as well, setting wise. Enjoy your stay at Caneel! It is a wonderful place.

Turtle Bay Estate was our first choice but unfortunately it is not open in July. Am I hearing a very polite slight hint that the food is not great at the Sugar Mill? You can pm if you prefer. Thanks so much. Your fabulous trip reports had a lot to do with our decision. We were so close to booking South Palm Villa but for this particular occasion we decided on the ease of Caneel.
Thanks,

I can't comment on the food at the Sugar Mill. John and I haven't eaten there since it changed from the Equator. I did look at the menu when we were there in January, and it looked OK, but not as interesting as some of the other choices in town. If you like sushi do try some at Caneel's beach grill. The sushi is something I can heartily recommend!

My group will be at Caneel in July for a few nights before we move to our villa. Maybe we will see each other on the beach.

Thanks. We are sushi lovers and loved the sushi photographs.. We will be there July 18 - 25. Wanted to go a little earlier but couldn't book a premium beachfront room.

We will still be on island but out of Caneel by then. Enjoy your stay!
