Casa YaYa Villa ?
Casa YaYa Villa ?
I am starting to browse villas for next years trip and we would like to stay on the Coral Bay side, we really like the look of Casa YaYa villa, but we have a few questions we need help with.
Has anyone stayed there recently and how was your stay?
Is there any construction nearby?
A new villa was built close by, does it compromise the privacy or views of Casa YaYa?
I can not pinpoint the villas location on Google maps, can anybody provide an exact location?
Thanks for any help!!

Re: Casa YaYa Villa ?
I think I remember when I was researching this villa that it was all open air...ie: No windows...
... Not that there were no screens on the windows.. That there were no windows in the windows...
...
Anyone else know if this is that one..or am I remembering wrong...

Re: Casa YaYa Villa ?
We rented Casa YaYa some years ago, and were tempted (but refrained) from making an offer when it came back on the market last fall. The views are simply amazing; about as good as the Coral Bay hillside has to offer. The view angle down to the old Voyages is improbably steep. The poster is right about the open air aspect; while many villas offer French doors, so that you can leave things open or closed, at Casa YaYa it's all or nothing; if you want to close anything, motorized steel garage door type affairs descend, three (individually controllable) in the great room and one for each bedroom. It's pure indoor / outdoor living, without screens, or even doors or windows. If you want any closure, you drop the metal doors and turn on the lights. Casa YaYa was built by the previous owners, Steve and Mikki Lipsey, and Steve is a fellow MIT alum. The all or nothing open air concept they went for was a ballsy call, but if you like it, it's great. The villa is low frills and low rental rate; there is no AC or fancy entertainment. There is actually a nice loft bedroom, but since it is accessed via a steep pull-out ladder, Caribbean Villas markets it as a two bedroom villa. The Lipsey's sold it to the Humphries last fall, who are looking to make some improvements. I don't think that the subdivide and adjacent build affects the view, but that happened after our last visit. Here it is on a map; the road up can be a bit rough, and the last driveway approach is very steep, but the views are spectacular.
All the best,
Kevin

Thanks for the info. and the location. The web site for the villa states that the villa will have screens on all of the open areas and they will be adding AC to the bedrooms.
I saw a photo of the villa and the new villa looks pretty close, but Im not sure how it looks in person. I will check it next month while on vacation.

Re: Casa YaYa Villa ?
There seem to be new owners, which is why the design changes. I must say that much as I love the open-air concept, I would be much more comfortable renting this gorgeous place if there were sliding screens as a backup in case of a big mosquito hatch.
I note that the VRBO listing does not list the 5% service fee that Caribbean Villas always tacks on. I wonder if it is still being managed by Caribbean Villas? It still appears on the CV website, but there is nothing listed in the Rates section.
