Fresh Fruit and St. Thomas Taxis

Post by tropicdawg »

Hello Fellow Forumites,

After skipping our annual trip to St. John after six years in a row, we are returning in June for two weeks; one week with three newbies at Almost Heaven in Coral Bay and one week with just my hubby on the East End. An ideal trip in my mind getting to introduce those close to me to the paradise I am obsessed with and some quality time with the spouse.

We are arriving in St. Thomas on a Friday afternoon and spending our first night at the Green Iguana. My husband and I did this our very first trip and we thought it would lessen the impact of a long travel day for our newbies. I was wondering if anyone knows if Rachel does non-airport to ferry taxi service. We will require airport to Green Iguana, then from there to dinner at Mafolie and back and then to Red Hook the next morning. If I remember correctly on our first trip, our dinner "taxi" was one of those fringed topped pickup beds :D

Also wondering if there is any agricultural regulations that would prohibit me from bringing apples and oranges in my back pack from the mainland. I eat a lot of fruit and the quality and price of most everything but bananas leaves me wanting when on island. We have brought meats and frozen veggies in our Polar Bear for years but wasn't sure about the fresh fruit.

As always, thanks for the wealth of knowledge and experience you all share with one another!

Rachel can do all that transportation for you. We were on a cruise in January and spent the day with Rachel. While we were with her she had to pick up a couple who just flew in from California. They come to the Marriott time share every year and never rent a car, they use Rachel solely.

Not sure about the fruit. Something tells me you can bring it out but not in. Don't rely on me though!

Enjoy your 2 weeks!

You can bring all the fruit you want down, but leave the mangoes on the trees when you return. Ditto with left-over ribs.

All the best,
