New owner of Woody's
Okay , so I hate to admit this but, I am a Woody's virgin! ( with the exception of Save second base , I have never step foot I the door!..... ) then today happened.
I had an hour to kill before meeting another Forumite who graciously invited me to dinner and I actually walked passed Woody's and said " ya know $1 rum drink sounds pretty good!" Well the guy sitting next to me started harassing me when I have the barmaid a $1 tip saying it was 100%. Anyway fast forward - he was Paul - the new owner of Woody's and Iguana Grill - solo to be named - the bar across the Street-
He is the most generous guy I may have ever met! When he fou d out why I moved to island, he introduced to his GM of both establishments as well as 4 other people - we have a mtg set up to get things goings for special needs in island And we will have the first St Baldricks event island next year. For those who don't k ow what st Baldricks , it is a pediatric cancer organization that fund research and awareness with head shaving (which I did five weeks ago).
Woody's new owner 's organizations did it as well and the raised $78k in their venture and our town raise $247k!! He said whatever we raised in st John , his company would match !!! So my point of this long winded post, is GO TO WOODY'S- THEY ARE GOOD PEOPLE!!! More info to follow!!! Sorry for any typos
- I excited and there was rum involved!

Former owner of Woody's, Todd, just bought JJ'S Texas Restaurant. He takes over August 1st. I'm on island now getting caught up on all the island news. Have met many forumites and still have a week to go. Leslie, all the best and best wishes for your future on the rock.

A ha!.... it's becoming more and more evident why you landed on the rock!
You warm my heart Leslie. I can't wait to meet you!

STJ is the best place on earth in my humble opinion but since Leslie is a resident now it can only get better. Next time I am on island (and I hope it's soon) I want to meet and buy Leslie a drink at Woodys, she seems like my kind of people..

Um, if he's so generous, why would he harass you for giving a whopping $1 tip regardless of the percentage? Am I missing something here? If he/she was using that as a basis for making conversation, please say so.

From what I was told the "harassment" over the $1 tip was delivered tongue in cheek, and with a smile.ms411 wrote:Um, if he's so generous, why would he harass you for giving a whopping $1 tip regardless of the percentage? He must have been able to tell that the person he was talking to would get it!

Re: New owner of Woody's
I think the "harassment" terminology may have been the wrong word for people who don't know me! For those who do, I love a little sarcasm. I think this was just a way to break the ice in conversation! Here is this lady (me), who walks into an establishment alone, with basically 1/16 inch hair ( if that) and looks well different than most girls who come in- so lets see how she handles it if someone's "ribs" her!! I am sure he thought I was either going to to him off, have the best conversation, or "rib" back! Believe me we ribbed each other and I am so glad I stayed!! He is such a great guy with such a great story to tell and such heart. My little "fuzzy" post of excitement was not to make anyone think too hard about my writing efforts, but to understand what an amazing place St John really is - inside and out!
