Another cell phone question TMO roaming/Data?

Post by The2ofus »

Thinking if I take my TMO smarty phone I'll be billed roaming charges. The phone rep couldn't tell much other than cheerfully telling me that it would work.
Will I be able to access the web on my TMO phone at Caneel? Understand internet wifi on resort is spotty. But also would love to access google maps while on island for instance.
Anyone here have any experience bringing their TMO phone to St John and Caneel? Big charges\reception etc?
Thanks in advance.

Last time I checked AT&T was the only national carrier that included USVI in national data plans.
Leap, and the net will appear.

I believe under your Verzon data plan, no issues in USVI regarding email and tests. But, all phone calls cost $1.99/minute, in and out.

First, you will need to change your service and add "International" service.You can do this right on the T-Mobile website after you access your account info.

Data charges appear to be $15.00 per MB. Her's the direct quote from the website:

International Internet service
With T-Mobile Internet, you can access the Internet from locations around the globe—for $10 per MB in Canada and $15 per MB in other countries. Charges will vary depending upon the amount of data you send and receive, and/or the amount of data you download. ** You may be miles from home, but you won’t be far from the information you need.

For international T-Mobile Internet access, you’ll need:
A T-Mobile data device that supports the frequencies used at your destinations*;
A T-MobileWeb or T-Mobile Internet plan;
WorldClass International Roaming added to your account (activation is free).
Want more information? Send us an e-mail or call us at 1-877-453-1304.
*Rates are subject to change without notice. Airtime charges apply. Not all services are available on all devices while roaming. International roaming is not available for Sidekick® users on Prepaid plans.Some devices may transmit and receive data without any user action, which may result in unexpected charges when you travel internationally. Some services that are free of charge when used domestically may incur charges when roaming internationally.

**For example, here are some average file sizes: Text messages = 3 KB and Web browsing = 250-500KB per page. Emails range widely in size; attachments such as photos and documents may be very large, even over 2MB each. Check the file properties before you send the file. Keep in mind that Web browsing while roaming internationally may result in additional data charges.

We called but never accessed data last year on island. Good luck :)
